the effect of varicocelectomy on sperm parameters, membrane integrity and sperm chromatin condensation
Authors
abstract
introduction: varicocele is considered as a common cause of male infertility. the aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of varicocelectomy on sperm parameters, sperm membrane integrity and sperm nuclear maturity. materials and methods: in this study along with routine semen analysis, hypo-osmotic swelling test (host), and aniline blue staining for assessment of as 45 and 90 days after it.membrane integrity and nuclear maturity was carried out on 20 patient before operation as well result: the analysis of the data showed an improvement in total sperm concentration and morphology after operation (p<0.05). sperm nuclear maturity also showed a significant improvement after varicocelectomy, however no change was observed in mean host score before and after varicocelectomy. conclusion: varicocele impairs semen parameters and to certain extent sperm nuclear maturity, however it does not have any effect on membrane integrity. the improvement in semen parameters specially sperm density, morphology, and nuclear maturity might improve pregnancy rate after varicocelectomy.

Effect of PolyVinyl Pyrrolidone on Sperm Membrane Integrity and Chromatin Status
Background The aim of present study is to evaluate the effect of PolyVinyl Pyrrolidone (PVP) routinly used during ICSI procedure on sperm membrane integrity, and sperm chromatin status. MaterialsAndMethods This study was carried out on 21 semen samples from the infertile men referring to Isfahan Fertility and Infertility Center. The processed semen samples were divided into two portions. One po...

introduction: different methods have been used to evaluate the beneficial effect of varicocelectomy; these include semen parameters and pregnancy rate. due to high biological variability of semen parameters, sperm functional test has been considered an efficient end point in assessment of fertility. therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of varicocelectomy on semen paramete...
full textEffect of chromatin condensation on frozen-thawed sperm DNA integrity in normozoospermic men
Background and Aim: Sperm cryopreservation is a common technique used for management of male infertility. But this method has detrimental effects on sperm DNA and chromatin quality. Evaluation of different markers associated with the health of genetic material of sperm is beneficial for determination of the fertility of sperm. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of sperm chromatin co...
full textP-72: Effect of Subinguinal Varicocelectomy on Human Sperm DNA Integrity and Semen Parameters
Background: Varicocele occurs in approximately 15% to 20% of the male population and it is the most common cause of poor semen parameters. It has been demonstrated that patients with varicocele have poor chromatin packing, DNA damage and nuclear anomalies than the healthy men. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate sperm chromatin integrity and semen parameters in these patients after...
full textBeneficial effect of microsurgical varicocelectomy on human sperm DNA integrity.
BACKGROUND Human sperm DNA damage may adversely affect reproductive outcomes, and the spermatozoa of infertile men possess substantially more DNA damage than that of fertile men. To date, there is no available treatment for men with high levels of sperm DNA damage. The objective of this study was to examine the effect of varicocelectomy on sperm DNA denaturation (DD, an index of sperm DNA damag...

Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM), primary or idiopathic, is a chronic disorder of the carbohydrate, lipid and protein metabolism, characterized through hyperglycemia and glycosuria. DM can involve male reproductive function at many levels. Vitamin C ( ascorbic acid) is one of necessary elements in human and mammalian diet that is very important in fertility. Vitamin C prevent from gamets dama...
