abstract

a 14 years old girl, with documented ewing's sarcoma, was treated by both chemotherapy and surgery. an initial bone scan (tc-99m-mi)i*) did not reveal a renal lesion. however, following therapeutic irradiation, there was retention of the bone imaging agent in a portion of the kidney that had been included in the radiation field. this reflected the effects of radiation related parenchymal alteration rather than retention of the bone imaging agent due to outflow tract obstruction, or to the presence of tumor.

Bone imaging demonstration of osseous lesions and hepatic uptake: Amyloid and renal dialysis effect

A 64-year-old woman, with amyloid related kidney failure (On renal dialysis) had a bone scan because of pain in the right upper femur. The 99m Tc-MDP images revealed marked hepatic uptake. In addition, there was right proximal femoral concentration of radiotracer, which corresponded to a fracture site. As an added finding, the same femor demonstrated circumferential uptake at the lower po...

Page Kidney Following Renal Biopsy

A 23-year-old Japanese woman was admitted with asymptomatic proteinuria and hematuria. An ultrasound-assisted percutaneous renal biopsy was performed. Three days later she experienced sudden-onset left back pain when picking up a heavy bag. Contrast-enhanced abdominal computed tomography demonstrated a cloverleaf compression of the left renal parenchyma caused by a subcapsular hematoma (Picture...

The Assessment of Toxicity Characteristics of Cellular Uptake of Paramagnetic Nanoparticles as a New Magnetic Resonance Imaging Contrast Agent

Nanoparticles are unique that enable many promising medical and technological applications intheir physical, and chemical properties. It is widely accepted that nanoparticles should bethoroughly tested for health nanotoxicity, but a moderate risk analysis is currently prevented by arevealing absence of mechanistic knowledge of nanoparticle toxicity. The purpose of this study<b...
