pollutants hazard potential and environmental vulnerability of qarah su river
Authors
abstract
the main purpose of the study is determination of the pollutants hazard potential as well as environmental vulnerability of qarah su river. first the most significant pollutant sources in the qarah su river watershed were identified and then accordingly the pollution hazard potential rate was calculated in universal ranking system model setting. then, by generalizing the algebraic sum of the results with the surface area of 49 polygons in the zone, the intensity of environmental vulnerability degree was determined in relation to other pollutant and the sum of pollutant sources. the results reveals that the most important pollutant sources in the qarah su river watershed are agricultural activities, municipal-domestic wastewater from cities, industry, aquaculture, and natural resources. the final models demonstrated that the hazard potential of total pollutant sources in the central region overlooking ardabil northern part and along the south-north of baliqly chai is too high.

full textSocial Ecology of Children’s Vulnerability to Environmental Pollutants
BACKGROUND The outcomes of exposure to neurotoxic chemicals early in life depend on the properties of both the chemical and the host's environment. When our questions focus on the toxicant, the environmental properties tend to be regarded as marginal and designated as covariates or confounders. Such approaches blur the reality of how the early environment establishes enduring biologic substrate...

15 صفحه اولHazard, Vulnerability and Risk on the Brahmaputra Basin: A Case Study of River Bank Erosion
The authors present an assessment of risk from river bank erosion in the Brahmaputra river basin. The concept of risk is conceptualised in the context of socio-economic vulnerability, and the potential for exposure to hazard. By addressing both the physical hazard and the variations across the socio-economic surface the approach presented attempts to spatially combine these parameters to provid...
full textInfertility and environmental pollutants.
While it has long been known that female fertility is impaired by oestrogen exposure, it is unclear whether environmental pollutants with weak oestrogenic effects are sufficiently potent and prevalent to have biological effects in humans. Male fertility, or sperm concentration at least, appears to have deteriorated, and there is substantial spatial variation at both national and global level, a...

Background: Natural radiation is constantly present in the environment and is emitted from a variety of natural and artificial sources. It affects human body and environment. Materials and Methods: The activity concentrations of 238U, 232Th and 40K have been determined by Gamma ray spectrometer with an HPGe detector in sediments of Cauvery River, Tamilnadu, India. Results: The absorbe...
