spectrophotometric reaction rate method for the determination of nitrite by catalytic action on nile blue a bromate reaction
Authors
abstract
a kinetic method developed for the determination of ultra-trace amounts of nitrite based on its catalytic effect on the reaction between potassium bromate and nile blue a in strongly acidic media is reported. the reaction was monitored spectrophotometrically by measuring the decrease in absorbance of nile blue a at 645 nm by the fixed-time method. the decrease in absorbance during the first 0.5-3.0 min of the reaction is related to the concentration of nitrite in the range of 0.002-0.500 µg.ml . the detection limit of 0.001 µg.ml was achieved for the nitrite ion. the relative standard deviation for 0.0100 µg.ml nitrite is 1.0%. most common anions and cations did not interfere in the measurement. the procedure was successfully applied for the determination of nitrite in natural water and salt

full textSpectrophotometric determination of nitrite based on its catalytic effect on the reaction of nuclear fast red and potassium bromate
A highly selective and sensitive catalytic spectrophotometric method was developed for the determination of nitrite in water samples. The method is based on its catalytic effect on the nuclear fast red–potassium bromate redox reaction in acidic medium. The reaction was followed spectrophotometrically by measuring the change in the absorbance at 518 nm of nuclear fast red 5 min after initiation ...

A sensitive and selective procedure was developed for the spectrophotometric determination of silver by its catalytic effect on the oxidation of gallocyanine by peroxydisulphate in acidic media at 540 nm. Silver can be determined in the range of 0.001-0.500 µg/ml with a limit of detection of 0.0005 µg/ml, by a fixed-time method of 4.0 min from initiation of the reaction, The relative standa...
full textSpectrophotometric Determination of Nitrite by Its Catalytic Effect on the Oxidation of Congo Red with Bromate
A novel simple, sensitive and rapid kinetic-spectrophotometric method for the determination of trace amounts of nitrite is proposed. The method is based on its catalytic effect on the oxidation of congo red (CR) by potassium bromate in acidic solution. The oxidation reaction is monitored spectrophotometrically by measuring the decrease in the absorbance of CR at a suitable λmax = 570 nm for the...

The composite diazotization coupling reaction of sulfanilic acid and N, Ndimethylaniline was used for the precise, accurate, and rapid determination of trace amounts of nitrite ion (0.02-3 µg/ml). The reaction was monitored spectrophotometrically by measuring the absorbance of the produced methyl orange at 510 nm by a fixed the method of 5.0 minutes. The relative standard deviation for the...
full textcatalytic spectrophotometric determination of vanadium (iv) based on the oxidation of alkali blue by potassium bromate
a simple, rapid and sensitive spectrophotometric method has been proposed for the determinationof vanadium (iv). the method is based on the catalytic effect of v (iv) on the oxidation of alkali blue bypotassium bromate at ph 4. the rate of decrease in the absorbance of alkali blue (at 572 nm) wasproportional to the concentration of v (iv) in the range of 100-6000 ng ml-1. the detection limit wa...
