equilibrium modeling and kinetic studies on the adsorption of basic dye by a low cost adsorbent
Authors
abstract
an agricultural waste and eco-friendly biosorbent i.e. rice husk has been used as a cheap adsorbentfor the removal of methylene blue dye from aqueous solutions. the physical properties of the developedadsorbent were characterized using ftir. the study was realized using batch experiments. the effectsof contact time, ph, initial dye concentration, biosorbent dose and temperature were investigated. theadsorption data were evaluated by freundlich and langmuir isotherm models. the adsorption isotherm isbest fitted by the freundlich model, while the adsorption kinetics is well described by the pseudo-secondordermodel. different thermodynamic parameters i.e., changes in standard free energy, enthalpy andentropy have also been evaluated and it has been found that the dye adsorption onto rice was a spontaneous, endothermic and physical reaction.

full textEquilibrium modeling and kinetic studies on the adsorption of basic dye by a low-cost adsorbent: coconut (Cocos nucifera) bunch waste.
In this paper, the ability of coconut bunch waste (CBW), an agricultural waste available in large quantity in Malaysia, to remove basic dye (methylene blue) from aqueous solution by adsorption was studied. Batch mode experiments were conducted at 30 degrees C to study the effects of pH and initial concentration of methylene blue (MB). Equilibrium adsorption isotherms and kinetics were investiga...

Background: Amongst the methods that remove heavy metals from environment, biosorption approaches have received increased attention because of their environmentally friendly and cost-effective feature, as well as their superior performances. Methods: In the present study, we investigated the ability of a surface-engineered Escherichia coli, carrying the cyanobacterial metallothionein on the cel...
full textRemoval of Acid Red 14 by Pumice Stone as a Low Cost Adsorbent: Kinetic and Equilibrium Study
In this work, removal of C. I. Acid Red 14 was investigated by Pumice stone as a low cost adsorbent. Various parameters such as initial dye solution, contact time and pH were studied. Removal of dye were increased by increasing of contact time and initial dye solution and deceased by increasing of pH. Three isotherm models were studied. Linear and non-linear regression analyses were used fo...
full textEquilibrium, Kinetic and Thermodynamic Studies on Basic Dye Adsorption Using Composite Activated Carbon
Batch adsorption experiments were carried out for the adsorption of cationic dye from aqueous solution onto composite activated carbon. The composite activated carbon was prepared from brewer’s spent grain and sea bean shell at a ratio of 1:1. The equilibrium studies were done at different concentrations and temperatures. The equilibrium data were fitted to Langmuir, Freundlich, Dubinin-Radushk...
