abstract

four hundred fifty day old unsexed broiler chicks were used in a 35-day trial at chittagong veterinary and animal sciences university farm to find out the effect of using crude soybean oil sediment (csos) as a substitute for refined soybean oil (rso) in broiler diet. the experiment was carried out following completely randomized design. the chicks were randomly distributed in three treatment groups having three replications per treatment. each replication had 50 birds. the house was divided by wire net into nine compartments to maintain desired replication. birds were fed three types of diet i.e. diet without csos and rso (t0), diet containing rso (t1) and diet containing csos (t2). all birds had free access to ad libitum feeding. results indicated that no variations (p

Performance and Economic Feasibility of Using Soybean Oil, Palm Oil and Fish Oil in Broiler Diet

Six hundred day old unsexed broiler chicks were used in a 35-day trial to compare the effects of soybean oil, palm oil and fish oil supplementation on the performance of broilers in terms of feed intake, weight gain and feed conversion. The chicks were randomly distributed following a completely randomized design in four groups having three replications per treatment. Each treatment had 150 bir...

Trans polyunsaturated fatty acid contents in Brazilian refined soybean oil.

This study examined the concentration (mg/g) of trans polyunsaturated fatty acid (TPFA) in five soybean oil brands by gas-liquid chromatography. Tricosanoic acid methyl ester was used as the internal standard. All samples analyzed presented trans 18:2 fatty and trans 18:3 acids in detectable amounts. The concentration of TPFA ranged from 5.8 to 30.2 mg/g, with a mean concentration value of 18.4...

Soybean Oil and Beef Tallow in Starter Broiler Diets1

The objective of this study was to determine the energy values of soybean oil (SBO) and tallow (T) combined in different ratios, and to evaluate their effects on the performance, body composition, and serum lipid levels of starter broilers. In experiment I, a digestibility trial was performed to determine the energy value of the SOB and T mixtures using 100 12 to 21 -day-old broilers. In experi...
