چکیده

Peripheral gangrene is, fortunately, a very rare complication of pregnancy and the puerperium. Stein (1916) describes two personal cases and reviews the literature on the subject. In both the cases he describes puerperal sepsis was present ; a severe infection in one patient in whom symmetrical dry gangrene involved both feet. He suggests that the symmetrical gangrene was caused by a thrombus migrating from the uterus into the common iliac artery up to the bifurcation of the aorta via the uterine, internal iliac and common iliac vessels.
