چکیده

The method to modify the surface of polystyrene (PS) substrate for stable and versatile biomolecule immobilization was developed, which consists of two steps: 1) surface treatment by argon plasma irradiation to introduce hydroxyl group on PS and 2) covalent immobilization of vinylmethyleter-maleic acid copolymer (VEMAC) through a coupling reaction between hydroxyl group on plasma-irradiated PS and carboxyl group of VEMAC. For cell culture application, the cell adhesive GRGDS peptide was conjugated with VEMAC immobilized on PS substrate. The cell culture experiments using NIH3T3 (mouse embryonic fibroblast) indicated that the GRGDS conjugated with VEMAC was specifically recognized by cell-surface integrin and promoted the adhesion and proliferation.

The Effect of Substrate Temperature on Surface Modification of Polystyrene by using Nitrogen Plasma

Studies on the effect of substrate temperature on the modification process of a thin layer of polystyrene samples deposited on glass by using spin coating technique have been conducted. The polystyrene thin film surface was modified by using nitrogen plasma generated in a vacuum reactor by a capacitive plasma generator with a frequency of 40 kHz. The substrate temperature was set by variation o...

Nano-Hybrids Based on Surface Modified Reduced Graphene Oxide Nanosheets and Carbon Nanotubes and a Regioregular Polythiophene

The multi-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) nanosheets were functionalized with 2-hydroxymethyl thiophene (CNT-f-COOTh) and 2-thiophene acetic acid (rGO-f-TAA) and grafted with poly(3-dodecylthiophene) (CNT-g-PDDT and rGO-g-PDDT) to manipulate the orientation and patterning of crystallized regioregular poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT). Distinct nano-hybrid structu...

Template-Guided Self-Assembly of Colloidal Quantum Dots Using Plasma Lithography

Quantum dots are building blocks in emerging applications such as diagnostics, imaging, nanoelectronics, nanophotonics, and energy. Selective placement of colloidal quantum dots into large-area micro–nanopatterns, however, remains unresolved. We describe a nonconventional technique wherein selective plasma modification of a substrate guides self-assembly of colloidal quantum dots with features ...

Plasma chemical and chemical functionalization of polystyrene colloidal crystals.

Self-assembling systems of colloidal spheres are widely used as templates for the structured deposition of metals and semiconductors. Multilayer samples of ordered polystyrene spheres are prepared by a flow induced process. The subsequent surface activation by a dielectric barrier discharge in oxygen is followed by the fabrication of protecting polysiloxane layers. Electrochemical deposition of...

Low Temperature “click” Wafer Bonding of Off-stoichiometry Thiol-ene (oste) Polymers to Silicon

INTRODUCTION Common bonding techniques for lab-on-chip (LOC) microfluidic devices require surface bio-functionalization to be performed in-situ after the chip has been packaged due to the bio-incompatible features of the bonding technique, including high temperature requirements (e.g. thermal bonding of thermoplastics), use of organic solvents (e.g. PMMA bonding) or plasma activation (e.g. PDMS...
