چکیده
This position paper describes work taking place in the DataMesh research project [Wilkes89, Wilkes91] on concurrent file systems. A concurrent file system exploits parallelism in its construction, while presenting an external image that is compatible with existing client:server interface definitions. The work is described in a number of stages: • the DataMesh hardware architecture is introduced; • Jungle, the overall software architecture framework, is described; • some existing results are described to demonstrate progress so far.

متن کاملDataMeshTM — scope and objectives: a commentary
A DataMesh can be viewed equally well as a storage server with a lot of local processing power, or as a highly-parallel computer with embedded storage. A physical manifestation might be as a wall-sized array of storage/processor nodes (discs, optical drives, pageaddressable RAM, etc) linked together by a web-like interconnect. Such a thing would live in the basement, and serve the storage needs...
متن کاملTBM Tunneling Construction Time with Respect to Learning Phase Period and Normal Phase Period
In every tunnel boring machine (TBM) tunneling project, there is an initial low production phase so-called the Learning Phase Period (LPP), in which low utilization is experienced and the operational parameters are adjusted to match the working conditions. LPP can be crucial in scheduling and evaluating the final project time and cost, especially for short tunnels for which it may constitute a ...
متن کاملAn Optimal NPV Project Scheduling with Fixed Work Content and Payment on Milestones
Project scheduling Net present value We consider a project scheduling problem with permitted tardiness and discrete time/resource trade-offs under maximum net present value objective. In this problem, a project consists of a set of sequential phases such that each phase contains one or more sub-projects including activities interrelated by finish-start-type precedence relations with a t...
متن کاملTowards Measuring the Project Management Process During Large Scale Software System Implementation Phase
Project management is an important factor to accomplish the decision to implement large-scale software systems (LSS) in a successful manner. The effective project management comes into play to plan, coordinate and control such a complex project. Project management factor has been argued as one of the important Critical Success Factor (CSF), which need to be measured and monitored carefully duri...
