چکیده

Background Left ventricular (LV) ejection fraction (EF) is important predictor of clinical outcomes in patients with nonischemic cardiomyopathy (NICMP). With the advent of gadolinium-enhanced cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR), it has now become possible to discern the presence of myocardial replacement fibrosis (RF) with a high level of accuracy. The aim of our study is to investigate the predictive value of RF in patients with NICMP.

Relationship between CMR derived myocardial extracellular volume and myocardial replacement scarring in non-ischemic cardiomyopathy

Background The measurement of the extent of myocardial replacement fibrosis in non-ischemic cardiomyopathy (NICMP) has been shown to correlate with clinical cardiac outcomes Although delayed enhancement cardiovascular magnetic resonance (DE-CMR) has been established as the reference standard for assessing myocardial replacement fibrosis (RF), this imaging process is unable to identify more subt...

Prognostic implications of myocardial fibrosis and troponin levels measured by a highly sensitive assay in non-ischemic cardiomyopathy

Background Myocardial replacement fibrosis detected as late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) on cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) and elevated serum cardiac troponin T levels measured with highly sensitive assays (hs-cTnT) have separately been shown to be associated with subsequent heart failure events in patients with non-ischemic cardiomyopathy (NICMP). Correlations between the two markers...

Myocardial Extracellular Matrix Volume has independent prognostic value in patients with non-ischemic cardiomyopathy

Background Left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) is the most validated independent prognostic factor for mortality, ventricular arrhythmias and heart failure (HF) in non-ischemic dilated cardiomyopathy without etiology. However, mild or moderate reduction LVEF yield limited predictive value. The amount of fibrosis, detected by late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) on CMR, has also been validate...

Myocardial fibrosis delineation in late gadolinium enhancement images of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy patients using deep learning methods

Introduction: Accurate delineation of myocardial fibrosis in Late Gadolinium Enhancement on Cardiac Magnetic Resonance (LGE-CMR) has a crucial role in the assessment and risk stratification of HCM patients. As this is time-consuming and requires expertise, automation can be essential in accelerating this process. This study aims to use Unet-based deep learning methods to automate the mentioned ...

Prognostic significance of the extent of septal fibrosis quantified on late gadolium enhanced images in patients with nonischemic cardiomyopathy

Background Midwall septal fibrosis on late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging has been shown to be an independent predictor of adverse events in patients with non-ischemic dilated cardiomyopathy (NICM). Recent studies in other cardiomyopathy cohorts, such as Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, suggest that LGE extent provides incremental prognostic value over ...
