چکیده

A set of chemical reactions is proposed to account for the formation of pantothenic acid derivatives from a primeval atmosphere composed of ammonia, formaldehyde, propyne, ethyne, hydrogen sulfide, hydrogen and water. Three precursor molecules are initially formed; a di-adduct of propyne and the catalyst Mg.porphin, azetidine2one, and 2-amino ethyl mercaptan. These then react sequentially to form stereospecic pantothenic acid (+R). Most of the reactions appear to be exothermic except those requiring photochemical excitation. The reactions have been shown to be feasible from the overall enthalpy changes in the ZKE approximation at the HF and MP2 /6-31G* level. Key-Words: pantothenic acid, azetidine-2one, 2-amino ethyl mercaptan, porphin.

The peptide-catalyzed stereospecific synthesis of tetroses: a possible model for prebiotic molecular evolution.

Using a water-based prebiotic model of sugar synthesis involving glycolaldehyde self-condensation, we demonstrate that homochiral L-dipeptide catalysts lead to the stereospecific syntheses of tetroses. The asymmetric effect is largest for erythrose, which may reach a D-enantiomeric excess of >80% with L-Val-L-Val catalyst. Based on results obtained with various peptides, we propose a possible c...

Synthesis and molecular docking of novel N-((2-chloroquinolin-3-yl) methylene)-4-methylbenzenamine derivatives as anti-HIV-1 reverse transcriptase inhibitors

In this research work, a proficient method has been developed for the preparation of novel N-((2-chloroquinolin-3-yl) methylene)-4-methylbenzenamine derivatives from 2-chloroquinoline-3-carbaldehyde derivatives and p-toluidine in ethanol as solvent and using catalytic amount of acetic acid under reflux conditions to obtain desired products in good yields. The identification of all the synthesiz...

Photochemical etiology of promising ancestors of the RNA nucleobases.

RNA is a product of chemical and biological evolution and the identification of its heterocyclic ancestors is essential for understanding the molecular origins of life. Among a diverse array of selection pressures thought to have shaped the composition of the nucleobases on prebiotic Earth, protection against intense ultraviolet radiation must have been essential. In this contribution, a detail...

Coenzyme A biosynthesis: reconstruction of the pathway in archaea and an evolutionary scenario based on comparative genomics.

Coenzyme A (CoA) holds a central position in cellular metabolism and therefore can be assumed to be an ancient molecule. Starting from the known E. coli and human enzymes required for the biosynthesis of CoA, phylogenetic profiles and chromosomal proximity methods enabled an almost complete reconstruction of archaeal CoA biosynthesis. This includes the identification of strong candidates for ar...
