Optimum Efficient Fast Handover Support for IPv6

چکیده
---International Engineering Task Force (IETF) proposed MIPv6 and HMIPv6 both mobility management solutions to support the IP mobility. Although HMIPv6 is an extension of MIPv6 still there is handover latency and packet loss in HMIPv6.In this paper a scheme is presented that supports a fast handover efficiently in hierarchical mobile IPv6 networks (HMIPv6). In HMIPv6 when a mobile node (MN) moves from a one MAP region to another, then there is a interruption of connection as well as packet loss due to long handover latency. To overcome these problems, an efficient fast handover scheme is adopted from FMIPv6 to optimize the performance of the interMAP handover. In this paper the handover latency for MIPv6 & HMIPv6 is compared to the proposed scheme with analytical model. By analysis and by simulations, we show that the proposed scheme has better performance compared to MIPv6 & HMIPv6 in terms of handover latency and packet loss. Multicast Listener Extensions for Mobile IPv6 (MIPv6) and Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) Fast Handovers
Fast handover protocols for Mobile IPv6 (MIPv6) and Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) define mobility management procedures that support unicast communication at reduced handover latency. Fast handover base operations do not affect multicast communication and, hence, do not accelerate handover management for native multicast listeners. Many multicast applications like IPTV or conferencing, though, com...
متن کاملEAP: New Fast Handover Scheme based on Enhanced Access Point in Mobile IPv6 Networks
Mobile IPv6 has been proposed to support host mobility in the Internet, yet during a handover Mobile IPv6 (MIPv6) suffers from packet disruption and packet loss. However, in MIPv6, the handover process reveals numerous problems manifested by a time-consuming network layer based movement detection. Furthermore, inherent delays associated with movement detection are unavoidable in standard MIPv6....
متن کاملA Fast Handover Protocol for Mobile IPv6 Using Mobility Prediction Mechanism
Mobile IPv6 enables mobile node to roam transparently in any network. It shows good performance for macro mobility but it is not proper for supporting micro mobility because of large latency. Accordingly, IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) mobileip WG(Working Group) suggests Fast Handover Protocol and HMIPv6(Hierarchical Mobile IPv6) for micro mobility management. However, HMIPv6 has some p...

In this paper, to resolve the problem of existing schemes, an alternative fast handover Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) scheme using the IEEE 802.21 Media Independent Handover (MIH) function is proposed for heterogeneous wireless networks. The proposed scheme comes to support fast handover for the mobile node (MN) irrespective of the presence or absence of MIH functionality as well as L3 mobility fu...

This paper focuses on a measurement-based comparison of the handover for different mobility protocols: Mobile IPv4, Mobile IPv6 and Fast Handovers for Mobile IPv6. The paper studies the handover using active and passive measurements computing the handover latency, packet losses and the provided QoS level in a real testbed. Our experimental results show that there are severe QoS fluctuations bef...
