Power limited Cooperative Diversity in Rayleigh Fading for Wireless Ad-hoc Networks

چکیده
The performance of a cooperative diversity with selection combining is analyzed in Rayleigh fading channels. The effect of limited power at the relay node is also presented. Our results show that when the average signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of each branch is identical, the single relay cooperative diversity with selection combining provides 13.5 dB power gain over the non-cooperative system at the outage probability of 3 10 1 − × . We also show that the power limitation on the relay node degrades the performance of the cooperative diversity significantly. Based on our results, it is concluded that the use of a relay node with limited power should be prevented in cooperative diversity systems.

Cooperative MIMO Communications in Wireless Ad Hoc Rayleigh Fading Networks
In this paper addresses Rayleigh fading networks, and in particular, wireless ad-hoc and sensor networks over Rayleigh fading channels. First, we will model Rayleigh fading networks and show how to map the wireless fading channel to the upper layer parameters for cross-layer design. Based on the developed fading network model, we will consider two scarce resources of wireless networks, namely e...

Cooperative diversity is a powerful tool that can be used to improve the performance of wireless networks. The use of directional antennas has also shown to offer an effective way for efficient bandwidth utilisation. In this study, the authors investigate the effect of both the transmission power and the number of cooperative relays on the maximum achievable throughput in energy-constrained coo...
متن کاملLEBRP - A Lightweight and Energy Balancing Routing Protocol for Energy-Constrained Wireless Ad Hoc Networks
A wireless ad hoc network typically refers to any set of wireless networks where all devices have equal status on a network and are free to associate with any other wireless ad hoc network devices in their range. As the nature of these networks, they commonly do not have external power supplies, and each node has a limited internal power source. In this paper, we put forward a new routing proto...

Cooperative diversity methods have recently been advocated for ad hoc sensor networks, and for other mobile wireless applications as well, as a means of providing diversity against link fading, and thereby offering lower power operation, or better system coverage. Sendonaris et al [1] proposed the concept of cooperative diversity, also known as distributed space-time transmission, and subsequen...

In this paper, we propose a Cooperative Transmission Strategy using Entropy-based Relay Selection in Mobile Ad-hoc Wireless Sensor Networks (MAWSN) with Rayleigh Fading Environments. The main features and contributions of the proposed cooperative transmission strategy are as follows. First, entropy-based relay selection is used to improve data transmission reliability from a source node to a de...
