Enhanced Compressed RTP (CRTP) for Links with High Delay, Packet Loss and Reordering Status of this Memo This document specifies an Internet standards track protocol for the Internet community, and requests discussion and suggestions for improvements. Please refer to the current edition of the "Internet Official Protocol Standards" (STD 1) for the standardization state and status of this protocol. Distribution of this memo is unlimited. Abstract This document describes a header compression scheme for point to point links with packet loss and long delays. It is based on Compressed Real-time Transport Protocol (CRTP), the IP/UDP/RTP header compression described in RFC 2508. CRTP does not perform well on such links: packet loss results in context corruption and due to the long delay, many more packets are discarded before the context is repaired. To correct the behavior of CRTP over such links, a few extensions to the protocol are specified here. The extensions aim to reduce context corruption by changing the way the compressor updates the context at the decompressor: updates are repeated and include updates to full and differential context parameters. With these extensions, CRTP performs well over links with packet loss, packet reordering and long delays.

The Feedback Based Mechanism for Video Streaming Over Multipath Ad Hoc Networks
Ad hoc networks are multi-hop wireless networks without a pre-installed infrastructure. Such networks are widely used in military applications and in emergency situations as they permit the establishment of a communication network at very short notice with a very low cost. Video is very sensitive for packet loss and wireless ad-hoc networks are error prone due to node mobility and weak links. H...
متن کاملInternet Traffic Distribution over Multilink Where High Bandwidth Scalable Switch Port Aggregates Multiple Physical Links
A logical link composed of multiple physical links is in extensive use in today’s Internet and its use is growing due to good scalability, reliability and cost-effectiveness. When IP packets are distributed over such physical links, load unbalancing and packet reordering may occur. Since packet reordering degrades TCP performance, a good traffic distribution method must reduce the amount of reo...
متن کاملInternet Traffic Load Balancing using Dynamic Hashing with Flow Volume
Sending IP packets over multiple parallel links is in extensive use in today’s Internet and its use is growing due to its scalability, reliability and cost-effectiveness. To maximize the efficiency of parallel links, load balancing is necessary among the links, but it may cause the problem of packet reordering. Since packet reordering impairs TCP performance, it is important to reduce the amoun...

Heterogeneous Wireless Network (HWN) is the next generation wireless communication system’s platform where Internet services will be offered and delivered through multiple technologies like WiFi, WiMAX, GSM etc. There are some Internet applications that require high bandwidth and therefore, the bandwidth of an individual interface need to be aggregated to form a high speedy logical link. In thi...
متن کاملDesign and Practical Implementation of a New Markov Model Predictive Controller for Variable Communication Packet Loss in Network Control Systems
The current paper investigates the influence of packet losses in network control systems (NCS’s) using the model predictive control (MPC) strategy. The study focuses on two main network packet losses due to sensor to controller and controller to actuator along the communication paths. A new Markov-based method is employed to recursively estimate the probability of time delay in controller to ac...
