Technical tips to perform safe and effective Ultrasound Guided steroid joint injections in children
نویسنده
چکیده
BACKGROUND The aim of this article is to describe the technique used to perform ultrasound guided steroid joint injections in children in a group of joints that can be injected using ultrasound as the only image guidance modality. FINDINGS The technique is described and didactic figures are provided to illustrate key technical concepts. CONCLUSION It is very important to be familiar with the sonographic appearance of the pediatric joints and the developing bone when performing ultrasound-guided joint injections in children.

Background: Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative disease that can cause pain and limited function. One of the non-surgical treatments is intra-articular ozone injection. This study aimed to compare the effect of ultrasound-guided corticosteroid injection with ozone injection in patients with grade 3 osteoarthritis of the knee. Methods: This randomized, double-blind, clinical trial was carried...
متن کاملSafety and efficacy of ultrasound guided corticosteroid injections into temporomandibular joints in children with active juvenile idiopathic arthritis
Background Prevalence of temporomandibular arthritis in JIA varies widely, reported rates ranging from 1787%. Untreated inflammation with joint destruction can lead to asymmetrical mandibular growth with jaw deviation, dental malocclusion and micrognathia. Intra-articular steroid injection for TMJ arthritis has been found to be effective. There are limited reports on the efficacy of ultrasound ...

Conventional hydrostatic barium reduction or pneumatic reduction of intussusception is associated with considerable ionizing radiation. The aim of this study was to evaluate ultrasound-guided hydrostatic reduction for childhood intussusception using water enema. A total of 76 children who diagnosed as having intussusception were referred to Doctor Sheikh Children Hospital in Mashhad (northeast ...
متن کاملRadiation dose reduction in CT-guided sacroiliac joint injections to levels of pulsed fluoroscopy: a comparative study with technical considerations
BACKGROUND The sacroiliac (SI) joint is frequently the primary source of low back pain. Over the past decades, a number of different SI injection techniques have been used in its diagnosis and therapy. Despite the concerns regarding exposure to radiation, image-guided injection techniques are the preferred method to achieve safe and precise intra-articular needle placement. The following study ...
