چکیده

A new airborne particle spectrometer has been developed with the same measurement capabilities of the Forward Scattering Spectrometer Probes (FSSP) models 100 and 300 (FSSP-300 and FSSP100), two-dimensional optical imaging probe (2D-OAP), the Multiangle Aerosol Spectrometer Probe (MASP) and hot-wire liquid water probe, but with a single integrated system. The cloud, aerosol and precipitation spectrometer (CAPS) measures particles from 0.35 mm to 1.55 mm in diameter and liquid water content (LWC) from 0.01 to 3 g m . In addition to combining five probes into one, it measures airspeed at the sample volume and transmits a data stream that requires no special interfaces to communicate with most computers. Design and characterization of specMACS, a multipurpose hyperspectral cloud and sky imager

The new spectrometer of the Munich Aerosol Cloud Scanner (specMACS) is a multipurpose hyperspectral cloud and sky imager designated, but is not limited to investigations of cloud–aerosol interactions in Earth’s atmosphere. With its high spectral and spatial resolution, the instrument is designed to measure solar radiation in the visible and shortwave infrared region that is reflected from, or t...

A Cloud and Precipitation Radar System Concept for the Ace Mission

In 2007, the Aerosol/Cloud/Ecosystem (ACE) mission was recommended for a NASA launch in the next decade by the NRC “Earth Science and Applications from Space: National Imperatives for the Next Decade and Beyond”, hereinafter, “Decadal Survey” [1]. One of the primary goals of ACE is to reduce the uncertainty in the impact of clouds and aerosols on climate modeling. This objective requires that c...

XBAER-derived aerosol optical thickness from OLCI/Sentinel-3 observation

A cloud-masking algorithm based on the spatial variability of reflectances at the top of the atmosphere in visible wavelengths was developed for the retrieval of aerosol properties by MODIS. It is shown that the spatial pattern of cloud reflectance as observed from space is very different from that of aerosols. Clouds show a very high spatial variability in the scale of a hundred metres to a fe...

Seminaire Du Gap Biophotonics "xbaer: a Generic Algorithm for the Retrieval of Aerosol Properties from Satel-lite Observations"

Because of a long-term synergy with other observations from ENVISAT, there is advan-tage to derive aerosol optical thickness (AOT) using the MEdium Resolution Imaging Spectrometer (MERIS) instrument. Although limited in spectral coverage, it is possible to derive accurate AOT from MERIS. Here, we introduce a new AOT retrieval algorithm for MERIS over land surfaces, henceforth called eXtensible ...

A multi-scale convolutional neural network for automatic cloud and cloud shadow detection from Gaofen-1 images

The reconstruction of the information contaminated by cloud and cloud shadow is an important step in pre-processing of high-resolution satellite images. The cloud and cloud shadow automatic segmentation could be the first step in the process of reconstructing the information contaminated by cloud and cloud shadow. This stage is a remarkable challenge due to the relatively inefficient performanc...
