چکیده

ÐIn this paper, we address the problem of estimating and analyzing the motion of fluids in image sequences. Due to the great deal of spatial and temporal distortions that intensity patterns exhibit in images of fluids, the standard techniques from Computer Vision, originally designed for quasi-rigid motions with stable salient features, are not well adapted in this context. We thus investigate a dedicated minimization-based motion estimator. The cost function to be minimized includes a novel data term relying on an integrated version of the continuity equation of fluid mechanics, which is compatible with large displacements. This term is associated with an original second-order div-curl regularization which prevents the washing out of the salient vorticity and divergence structures. The performance of the resulting fluid flow estimator is demonstrated on meteorological satellite images. In addition, we show how the sequences of dense motion fields we estimate can be reliably used to reconstruct trajectories and to extract the regions of high vorticity and divergence.

Multivariate Jeffrey Fluid Flow past a Vertical Plate through Porous Medium

An analysis is suggested to study the impact of Hall currents in Jeffrey fluid which is chemically reactive through a porous medium limited by a semi-infinite vertical permeable plate within the existence of heat generation. An evenly distributed magnetic field turns vertically on the porous surface which absorbs the Jeffrey fluid with a changed suction velocity with time. The analytical expres...

Hydrodynamics Analysis of Density Currents

Density Current is formed when a fluid with heavier density than the surrounding fluid flows down an inclined bed. These types of flows are common in nature and can be produced by; salinity, temperature inhomogeneities, or suspended particles of silt and clay. Driven by the density difference between inflow and clear water in reservoirs, density current plunges clear water and moves towards a d...

A New Tri-Parametrical Law of Corresponding States for Subcritical Dense Fluids

This article introduces a new tri-parameter law of corresponding states from the known regularities, namely the LIR and Zeno line for dense fluids (when Tz=Tc). Two of these parameters are the Zeno line parameters and the third parameter (the fluid parameter), has been obtained from the LIR, this parameter is solely dependent upon the fluid characteristics. The third parameter ca...

3D motion estimation of atmospheric layers from image sequences

In this paper, we address the problem of estimating three-dimensional motions of a stratified atmosphere from satellite image sequences. The analysis of three-dimensional atmospheric fluid flows associated with incomplete observation of atmospheric layers due to the sparsity of cloud systems is very difficult. This makes the estimation of dense atmospheric motion field from satellite images seq...

The complexity of three-dimensional atmospheric fluid flows associated to incomplete observation of atmospheric layers due to the sparsity of cloud systems makes very difficult the estimation of dense atmospheric motion field from satellite images sequences. Dynamic consistent correlation-variational approach for robust optical flow estimation

We present in this paper a novel combined scheme dedicated to the measurement of velocity in fluid experimental flows through image sequences. The proposed technique satisfies the Navier–Stokes equations and combines the robustness of correlation techniques with the high density of global variational methods. It can be considered either as a reenforcement of fluid dedicated opticalflow methods ...
