چکیده

Broad band reverberation measurements were collected in deep water (2067m) off Vizag. TNT scare charges (0.450 kg) were used as sound sources which were expended from the ship. The signals were recorded using two hydrophones deployed from the ship. The sound speed profile exhibits 63m duct with a limiting ray angle of about 4.47o and lower cut off frequency of 177 Hz. A flat plateau and then sudden fall of 10 dB near ~12-13s on the reverberation characteristic in deep water is related to the effect of sound speed profile and water depth. This strong reverberation return will have major consequences on the reverberation limited sonar performance. This effect is correlated with ray theory based model and the results are presented.

Evaluation of estimation models for acoustic reverberation time in educational and office environments

Noise pollution is considered as one of the most annoying factors in educational and office environments. In these environments where learning processes and intellectual activities are ongoing, an effective acoustic design is necessary. The aim of this paper is to assess the reverberation time as one of the important indicators in describing the acoustic characteristics of rooms. In this study,...

Ray-based blind deconvolution in ocean sound channels.

This letter describes a ray-based blind deconvolution technique for ocean sound channels that produces broadband estimates of the source-to-array impulse response and the original source waveform from array-measured signals corrupted by (unknown) multipath propagation. The technique merely requires elementary knowledge of array geometry and sound speed at the array location. It is based on iden...

A unified model for reverberation and submerged object scattering in a stratified ocean waveguide.

A unified model for reverberation and submerged target scattering in a stratified medium is developed from wave theory. The advantage of the unified approach is that it enables quantitative predictions to be made of the target-echo-to-reverberation ratio in an ocean waveguide. Analytic expressions are derived for both deterministic and stochastic scattering from the seafloor and subseafloor. As...
