Localized Immediate Type Hypersensitivity Reaction Following Intralesional Triamcinolone Acetonide into a Keloid
Corticosteroids are rare causes of immediate type hypersensitivity reactions. We report a rare case of immediate type hypersensitivity reaction following an intralesional injection of triamcinolone acetonide into a presternal keloid. He had itching in and around the keloid along with an erythematous rash around the keloid, which had started 4 hours after the injection and had lasted for the nex...
متن کاملAnaphylaxis following intralesional triamcinolone acetonide (Kenacort) injection
Intralesional triamcinolone acetonide injection is indicated for multiple skin conditions such as keloid scars, alopecia areata, and hypertrophic lichen planus. Immediate hypersensitivity reaction remains uncommon. We report on a 24-year-old woman who had received multiple intralesional injections with triamcinolone acetonide (Kenacort) plus lidocaine for keloid scar treatment without any react...
متن کاملComparison of Intralesional Triamcinolone Acetonide, 5-Fluorouracil, and Their Combination in Treatment of Keloids
BACKGROUND Despite the myriad options available, there is no universally accepted treatment for keloids. This study has compared intralesional triamcinolone acetonide, 5-fluorouracil, and their combination in treatment of keloids. METHODS In this randomized parallel group study, 60 patients were enrolled and randomly allocated to three groups. Patients received intralesional injections of tr...
متن کاملIntralesional triamcinolone acetonide injection for chalazion.
The aim of the study was to evaluate the efficacy of intralesional triamcinolone acetonide injection in primary and recurrent chalazion. The study included 30 patients with primary and recurrent chalazion (37 cases) and 24 patients as a control group. Patients with primary and recurrent chalazion received intralesional injection of 0.1 to 0.2 mL triamcinolone acetonide (40 mg/mL). Control group...
متن کاملA comparative study of intralesional injection of triamcinolone acetonide alone versus combined cryotherapy and triamcinolone acetonide
Background: A keloid is dysregulated firoproliferative scar tissue in response to skin injuries, which extends beyond the wound margin. Since it has a poor response to treatment, variable therapies are used. Current therapies of keloid include intralesional corticosteroid injection, cryotherapy and various laser therapies, silicone gel sheets (pressure therapy), interferon-α-2b, 5floruracilorbl...
