چکیده

creased clearance of the sialic aciddeficient transferrin isoforms (CDT) via the asialoglycoprotein receptor. The underlying mechanism for the increased CDT in our patient might be different from that in viral liver cirrhosis. To explore the etiology of this finding, measurements of neuraminidase and sialyltransferase activity (9 ) and of the sialyltransferase mRNA concentration (10 ) may be useful. We consider autoimmune hepatitis as a new cause for pathologic CDT results despite typical alcohol intake.

Effect of thiol oxidation and thiol export from erythrocytes on determination of redox status of homocysteine and other thiols in plasma from healthy subjects and patients with cerebral infarction.

Changes in concentration of reduced and oxidized low-M(r) thiols were measured in blood and plasma before and after the separation of blood cells. If centrifugation of blood was postponed, the reduced form of homocysteine in plasma increased with time at 22 degrees C; in contrast, the concentrations of other reduced thiols (cysteine, glutathione, and cysteinylglycine) decreased. In plasma the r...

An enzymatic assay for plasma homocysteine was developed that uses a crude lysate of E. coli containing the recombinant enzyme, methionine γ-lyase. The assay uses a commercially available fluorophore and 96-well microtiter plates; it can be performed manually or with the TECAN automated analyzer. The CVs for within-run and between-run precision are <10%. Close correlation (r >0.9) was obtained ...

آیا سطح هموسیستئین پلاسما در بیماران دیابت ملیتوس تیپ II با افراد مبتلا به اختلال تحمل گلوکز و افراد طبیعی تفاوت دارد؟

Introduction: Hyperhomocysteinemia is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease in diabetic patients. The aim of this study was to determine plasma homocysteine levels in diabetics and compare with control persons and also evaluation of correlation between plasma homocysteine concentration and diabetic related variables. Methods: This study was done on 39 type II diabetic pa...

Normal Range of Total Plasma Homocysteine Concentrations in Southern Iran

The distribution of total plasma homocysteine concentrations in relation to the sex and age is described, in a population of Shiraz, South West of Iran and compared to those reported in other populations.  Two hundred and one healthy males and 201 healthy females aged >15 y were randomly selected.  Total Plasma homocysteine concentrations were measured using high performance liquid chromatograp...

Elevated Plasma Homocysteine Concentration in Opium-Addicted Individuals

Background: Although the triggering role of both opium use and elevated plasma homocysteine level for progressing atherosclerosis and, therefore, appearing coronary heart disease has been clearly determined, no study are available with respect to the relation between these to risk profiles. In the present study and for the first time, we hypothesized that the opium addiction can be potentially ...
