چکیده

Numerical simulation of aircraft’s flutter is rather expensive and time-consuming. In order to save expense and calculating time, we apply first-order approximate conditions to solve the unsteady transonic Euler equations coupled with aeroelastic equations. Assuming that the airfoil is thin and undergoes small deformation, we implement wall boundary conditions on nonmoving mean wall positions. Then the firstorder approximate equation of momentum is obtained by using Taylor expansion. Unsteady transonic Euler equations are solved on stationary Cartesian grids. Calculation of the aerodynamic behavior is performed for NACA 64A010 airfoil in transonic flow, while the flutter boundaries of AGARD wing model and NACA 0012 benchmark model are calculated for aeroelastic simulation. The results are in good agreement with other numerical and experimental results, preliminarily indicating that the first-order approximate conditions are effective for aeroelastic simulation.

Airfoil Optimization Based on an Evolution Strategy with Respect to Aeroelasticity

Numerical simulations are presented in order to test airfoil optimization criteria from the aeroelastic point of view. Based on an Evolution Strategy, airfoil-shape point optimization has been performed as a lift constrained drag minimization at a given Mach/Reynolds number combination for transonic flow. Additional to the drag minimization, the propagation time of pressure disturbances from th...

An automated flutter boundary tracking procedure is presented for the efficient calculation of transonic flutter boundaries. The new procedure uses aeroelastic responses to march along the boundary by taking steps in speed and Mach number, thereby reducing the number of response calculations prevlously requi red to determi ne a transoni c fl utter boundary. A Composite Finite Difference Scheme for Subsonic Transonic Flows (RESEARCH NOTE).

This paper presents a simple and computationally-efficient algorithm for solving steady two-dimensional subsonic and transonic compressible flow over an airfoil. This work uses an interactive viscous-inviscid solution by incorporating the viscous effects in a thin shear-layer. Boundary-layer approximation reduces the Navier-Stokes equations to a parabolic set of coupled, non-linear partial diff...

The Effects of Shape Parameterization on the Efficiency of Evolutionary Design Optimization for Viscous Transonic Airfoils

The effect of airfoil shape parameterization on optimum design and its influence on the convergence of the evolutionary optimization process is presented. Three popular airfoil parametric methods including PARSEC, Sobieczky and B-Spline (Bezier curve) are studied and their efficiency and results are compared with those of a new method. The new method takes into consideration the characteristics...

Evaluation of 2-D Aeroelastic Models Based on Indicial Aerodynamic Theory and Vortex Lattice Method in Flutter and Gust Response Determination

Two 2-D aeroelastic models are presented here to determine instability boundary (flutter speed) and gust response of a typical section airfoil with degrees of freedom in pitch and plunge directions. To build these 2-D aeroelastic models, two different aerodynamic theories including Indicial Aerodynamic Theory and Vortex Lattice Method (VLM) have been employed. Also, a 3-D aeroelastic framework ...
