Fibers of secondary ligno-cellulose materials and their influence on properties of insulating fiberboards

چکیده
This paper deals with the influence of addition of abraded fiber, as a partial substitute of softwood fibers, on the properties of insulating fiberboard. The fiber used was characterized by fractional composition of fiber length according to McNett (STN 50 0289) using the apparatus for the measurement of fiber length in aqueous suspension (ADV) and according to Brecht-Holl (STN 50 0289) by the determination of water retained by fiber, speed of dewatering and defibrator seconds. Insulating fiberboards were prepared with different content of abraded fiber. Mechanical properties (bending strength and tension strength perpendicular to the board plane) as well as physical properties (swelling, water uptake, thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity specific heat and volumetric specific heat) were measured for the boards.

Termite Resistant Properties of Sisal Fiberboards
A study was carried out to test sisal (Agave sisalana Perrine) fiberboards properties as building materials against Asian subterranean termite, Coptotermes gestroi (Wasmann). Evaluation was in the laboratory according to the JWPA Standard-TW-S.1-1992. To improve mechanical properties of fiberboards made from sisal fibers, the boards were overlaid by rubber veneer, betung bamboo matting or formi...
متن کاملEffects of Waste Fibers Stabilizers on the Draindown and Moisture Damage Sensitivity Properties of SMA Mixtures
Waste fibers produced from manufacturing processes are a byproduct commonly deposited in storing yards and/or landfills and thus results in many serious environmental problems in Iran. If these waste materials could be advantageously put to practical use in any application, it would reduce the burden on the environment and landfills. This paper compares the performance of the stone matrix aspha...
متن کاملSelective Breakdown of (Ligno)cellulose in Ionic Liquids
(Ligno)cellulose is mainly composed of cellulose, lignin, hemicellulose, and extractives, which represents an abundant carbon-neutral renewable resource. Increasing concerns about global warming and diminishing fossil fuel reserves have stimulated much effort to use (ligno)cellulose as an alternative to petroleum for the production of fuels and chemicals. From a sustainability point of view, sh...
متن کاملNanopaper Properties and Adhesive Performance of Microfibrillated Cellulose from Different (Ligno-)Cellulosic Raw Materials
The self-adhesive potential of nanocellulose from aqueous cellulosic suspensions is of interest with regard to a potential replacement of synthetic adhesives. In order to evaluate the performance of microfibrillated cellulose from different (ligno-)cellulosic raw materials for this purpose, softwood and hardwood powder were fibrillated and compared to sugar beet pulp as a representative non-woo...
متن کاملManufacturing of renewable and biodegradable fiberboards from cake generated during biorefinery of sunflower whole plant in twin-screw extruder: Influence of thermo-pressing conditions
The starting material used in this study was a cake generated during thermo-mechanical fractionation of sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) whole plant in a twin-screw extruder. It was slightly deoiled (16.7% of oil in dry matter). Composed mainly of fibers and proteins, it could be considered as a natural composite and was processed successfully into fiberboards by thermo-pressing. This study aim...
