Creative misreading and bricolage writing: a structural appraisal of a poststructuralist debate

n Lévi-Strauss’s distinction of hot and cold societies, when it comes to the question of the causation of the divergences, the different strands of analysis all point to one specific phenomenon. In non-literate, so-called “primitive”, non-civilized or non-industrial societies, interpersonal communication is more proximate and more immediate than in modern societies where, by contrast, relationships between individuals in literally every sphere of modern social life – whether interpersonal, administrative, or political – are intermediate rather than immediate, in as much as they are at least mediated through written documents.
