Scale-Relativistic Estimate of the SU(3), SU(2) and U(1) Couplings

چکیده
The value of the SU(3) coupling constant is estimated in the framework of the scale-relativistic minimal standard model. It is evolved, thanks to its renormalization group equation, from the GUT scale (which is identified with the Planck mass in scale relativity) where its value is conjectured to be 1/4π, to the Z boson scale, where its value is predicted to be 0.115. We also discuss the emergence of new definite structures, in particular of a fundamental mass-scale at 123.23 GeV.

Constraints on the SU(3) Electroweak Model
We consider a recent proposal by Dimopoulos and Kaplan to embed the electroweak SU(2)L × U(1)Y into a larger group SU(3)W × SU(2) × U(1) at a scale above a TeV. This idea is motivated by the prediction for the weak mixing angle sin θW = 1/4, which naturally appears in these models so long as the gauge couplings of the high energy SU(2) and U(1) groups are moderately large. The extended gauge dy...

The standard SU(3) S SU(2) S U(1) model provides a very successful description of the strong, weak, and electromagnetic interactions. It is, however, in no sense a fundamental theory. The SU(3) II SU(2) S U(1) model contains at least eighteen parameters, each of which must be adjusted by hand to account for low-energy phenomenology. What lies beyond the standard model? A variety of extensions h...
متن کاملThe Weak Mixing Angle from an SU(3) Symmetry at a TeV
The measured values of two electroweak gauge couplings appear to obey an approximate (5%) SU(3) relation. Unless this is an accident caused by fortuitous Planck-scale physics, it suggests the presence of an SU(3) symmetry near the electroweak scale. We propose this to be a local SU(3) which spontaneously “mixes” with SU(2)×U(1) near a TeV. Although all the particles of the standard model are SU...

We discuss the running couplings in the standard model, SU(3) C ×SU(2) L ×U(1) Y , when the Higgs sector is replaced by SU(N T C) technicolor. Particular attention is given to the running of the couplings at momentum scales where technicolor is nonperturbative, and in this region we apply a relativistic constituent technifermion model. This model has been tested against the known running of the...
متن کاملLeft-right symmetry and supersymmetric unification.
The existence of an SU(3)×SU(2)L×SU(2)R×U(1) gauge symmetry with gL = gR at the TeV energy scale is shown to be consistent with supersymmetric SO(10) grand unification at around 10 GeV if certain new particles are assumed. The additional imposition of a discrete Z2 symmetry leads to a generalized definition of R parity as well as highly suppressed Majorana neutrino masses. Another model based o...
