چکیده

Douglas, G. W. (Communicable Disease Center, Atlanta, Ga.), Alma C. McWhorter, and P. R. Edwards. Natural occurrence of induced or artificial flagellar antigens in Salmonella newport. J. Bacteriol. 83:348-350. 1962.-Two epidemiologically related cultures of Salmonella newport, which possessed naturally occurring artificial or induced antigens in phase 2, were studied. It was demonstrated that similar antigens may be obtained by cultivation of normal S. newport cultures in appropriate antisera. These antigens were assigned the symbols 1,12. The diagnostic problems posed by the natural occurrence of induced antigens are mentioned.

Two Novel Salmonella Bivalent Vaccines Confer Dual Protection against Two Salmonella Serovars in Mice

Non-typhoidal Salmonella includes thousands of serovars that are leading causes of foodborne diarrheal illness worldwide. In this study, we constructed three bivalent vaccines for preventing both Salmonella Typhimurium and Salmonella Newport infections by using the aspartate semialdehyde dehydrogenase (Asd)-based balanced-lethal vector-host system. The constructed Asd+ plasmid pCZ11 carrying a ...

Multiplex PCR for distinguishing the most common phase-1 flagellar antigens of Salmonella spp.

Most Salmonella serotypes alternatively express either phase-1 or phase-2 flagellar antigens, encoded by the fliC and fljB genes, respectively. Flagellar phase reversal for the identification of both flagellar antigens is not necessary at the genetic level. Variable internal regions of the fliC genes encoding the H:i, H:r, H:l,v, H:e,h, H:z(10), H:b, and H:d antigens have been sequenced; and th...

Characterization of CD4+ T cell responses during natural infection with Salmonella typhimurium.

CD4+ T cells are important for resistance to infection with Salmonella typhimurium. However, the Ag specificity of this T cell response is unknown. Here, we demonstrate that a significant fraction of Salmonella-specific CD4+ T cells respond to the flagellar filament protein, FliC, and that this Ag has the capacity to protect naive mice from lethal Salmonella infection. To characterize this Ag-s...

Salmonella infections in poultry flocks in the vicinity of Tehran

The purpose of this study was to survey infections with Salmonella spp. in poultry flocks in the vicinity of Tehran and to determine the most frequent serogroups and serotypes implicated. Twenty-eight samples of pullet, layer, and broiler flocks were randomly collected (n=1463), including freshly dropped feces from live birds or visceral organs from dead birds. In most flocks, 60 samples were t...

Genetic Homologies between Flagellar Antigens of Escherichia Coli and Salmonella Abony.

Genes determining the flagellar antigens were introduced from Hfr Salmonella abony into F-Escherichia coli by sexual recombination. The gene H I for the phase-1 flagellar antigen of Salmonella was found to be allelic to H , the gene for the only flagellar antigen of E. coli. The phase-2 antigen of Salmonella has no counterpart in E. coli; if the corresponding salmonella gene H 2 is introduced i...
