Psychology is the science of the mind and its functions, especially in relation to behaviour. It covers human senses, perceptions, emotions, cognition and actions. Arising out of natural philosophy in the late 19 century, it focussed initially on the faculties of the mind and sought to understand how the physiological processes of the senses were translated by the brain into sensations and perceptions.
