Extubation after Mechanical Ventilation
نویسنده
چکیده
spontaneously, 106 patients were randomized to 1 h CPAP or 1 h T-piece/ZEEP, following which patients were extubated and mask 0, administered. No significant difference existed between groups in age, sex, HR, BP, Flo, PaCO, or PaO,. However, P(A-a)02 was significantly greater at 120 mm in the CPAP group. Within the CPAP gsoup, P(A-a)O, was also significantly worse at 120 vs 0 mm. Nineteen Tpiece patients shwied improved P(A-a)O, at 120 miss conspared with only ten CPAP patients. Three CPAP and two T-piece patients subsequently required reintubation. This study demonstrates that use of a T-piece does not impair arterial oxygenation and may in fact be superior to direct extubation from CPAP 5. (Chest 1991; 100:1655-59)

Predictors of extubation failure and reintubation in newborn infants subjected to mechanical ventilation
OBJECTIVE To identify risk factors for extubation failure and reintubation in newborn infants subjected to mechanical ventilation and to establish whether ventilation parameters and blood gas analysis behave as predictors of those outcomes. METHODS Prospective study conducted at a neonatal intensive care unit from May to November 2011. A total of 176 infants of both genders subjected to mecha...

Background: Successful weaning of the ventilator is a major challenge, especially in children. This study was conducted to compare the criteria of readiness for extubation and daily spontaneous breathing test (SBT) on the duration of mechanical ventilation and extubation failure rates. متن کاملPhysiological predictors of respiratory and cough assistance needs after extubation
BACKGROUND Identifying patients at high risk of post-extubation acute respiratory failure requiring respiratory or mechanical cough assistance remains challenging. Here, our primary aim was to evaluate the accuracy of easily collected parameters obtained before or just after extubation in predicting the risk of post-extubation acute respiratory failure requiring, at best, noninvasive mechanical...
متن کاملSuccessful Extubation After Weaning Failure by Noninvasive Ventilation in Patients With Neuromuscular Disease: Case Series
OBJECTIVE To report successful cases of extubation from invasive mechanical ventilation at our institution using pulmonary rehabilitation consisting of noninvasive ventilation (NIV) in neuromuscular patients with experience of reintubation. METHODS Patients who experienced extubation failure via the conventional weaning strategy but afterwards had extubation success via NIV were studied retro...
