The Community Multiscale Air Quality Model (cmaq)

چکیده
Models-3, a flexible software framework, and its Community Multiscale Air Quality (CMAQ) modeling system form a powerful third generation air quality modeling and assessment tool designed to support air quality modeling applications ranging from regulatory issues to science inquiries on atmospheric science processes. The CMAQ system can address tropospheric ozone, acid deposition, visibility, fine particulate and other air pollutant issues in the context of “one” atmosphere perspective where complex interactions between atmospheric pollutants and regional and urban scales are confronted. This CMAQ Science Document contains chapters that address specific scientific and technical issues involved in the development and application of Models3/CMAQ system; collectively, it provides the scientific basis and point of reference for the state of the science captured in the June 1998 initial release of the CMAQ. This chapter provides an overview and context of each contributing chapter to the CMAQ system.

Use of hourly Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES) fire emissions in a Community Multiscale Air Quality (CMAQ) model for improving surface particulate matter predictions
[1] Large changes in surface‐level PM2.5 concentrations and columnar aerosol optical thickness (AOT) were observed downwind of fires that originated in Georgia and Florida during the April–May 2007 period. In order to quantify the impacts of these wildfires on particulate matter air quality, Community Multiscale Air Quality (CMAQ) simulations were conducted by adding hourly fire emissions deriv...

A framework that employs the Volatility Basis Set (VBS) within the Community Multiscale Air Quality Model (CMAQ) was applied to predict organic aerosol concentrations from aircraft emissions. This framework was further expanded to include the formation of secondary organic aerosols from semi and intermediate volatile organic compounds which are traditionally missing from emission inventories us...

Proposed emission control strategies for reducing ozone and particulate matter are evaluated better when air quality and health effects models are used together. The Community Multiscale Air Quality (CMAQ) model is the US Environmental Protection Agency's model for determining public policy and forecasting air quality. CMAQ was used to forecast air quality changes due to several emission contro...
متن کاملModels-3 Community Multiscale Air Quality (CMAQ) model aerosol component 1. Model description
[1] The aerosol component of the Community Multiscale Air Quality (CMAQ) model is designed to be an efficient and economical depiction of aerosol dynamics in the atmosphere. The approach taken represents the particle size distribution as the superposition of three lognormal subdistributions, called modes. The processes of coagulation, particle growth by the addition of mass, and new particle fo...
