Calculation of Polarization in Multiplet Lines Emitted after Beam-surface Interaction

The polarization in multiplet lines is calculated by coupling an anisotropic ensity operator p, of an excited electron to the density operator p , , , ; of an unpo:arized or core. For pel a pure angular momentum state is tested, whereas different assumptions are tried for pCorG. It is demonstrated, that the time delay .rlbetween the successive beam-projectile interactions, which create pcore and pet, has a considerable effect on the relative Stokes parameter M/I.
