چکیده

Analytical treatment of the self-phase-modulation of an ultrashort light pulse is extended beyond the slowly varying envelope approximation. The resulting wave equation is modified to include corrections to self-phasemodulation due to higher-order spatial and temporal derivatives. Analytical solutions are found in the limiting regimes of high nonlinearities and very short pulses. Our results reveal features that can significantly impact both pulse shape and the evolution of the phase.

The Deterministic Generation of Extreme Surface Water Waves Based on Soliton on Finite Background in Laboratory

This paper aims to describe a deterministic generation of extreme waves in a typical towing tank. Such a generation involves an input signal to be provided at the wave maker in such a way that at a certain position in the wave tank, say at a position of a tested object, a large amplitude wave emerges. For the purpose, we consider a model called a spatial-NLS describing the spatial propagation o...

A Hysteretic Two-phase Supply Modulator for Envelope Tracking RF Power Amplifiers

In this paper a two-phase supply modulator suitable for envelope tracking power amplifier is presented. The designed supply modulator has the linear assisted switching architecture. Two-phase architecture is used in order to reduce the output switching ripples. The proposed architecture uses hysteretic control instead of pulse width modulation (PWM) which significantly reduces the circuit compl...

Global Solvability of the Maxwell-Bloch Equations from Nonlinear Optics

The nonlinear self-focusing of optical beams is a well known and abundantly documented phenomenon M, Sh]. The mechanism is simple. If the speed of propagation of electromagnetic waves decreases as a function of the intensity, then ray tracing suggests that a planar wavefront with intensity which is large at the center and decreases away from the center will propagate so that the center lags beh...

Analysis of Supercontinuum Generation Under General Dispersion Characteristics and Beyond the Slowly Varying Envelope Approximation

The generation of broadband supercontinua (SC) in air-silica microstructured fibers results from a delicate balance of dispersion and nonlinearity. We analyze two models aimed at better understanding SC. In the first one, we characterize linear dispersion in the Fourier domain from the calculated group velocity dispersion (GVD) without using a Taylor approximation for the propagation constant. ...

Exact theory for localized envelope modulated electrostatic wavepackets in space and dusty plasmas

Abundant evidence for the occurrence of modulated envelope plasma wave packets is provided by recent satellite missions. These excitations are characterized by a slowly varying localized envelope structure, embedding the fast carrier wave, which appears to be the result of strong modulation of the wave amplitude. This modulation may be due to parametric interactions between different modes or, ...
