چکیده

We investigate the protection of network elements with non-simple p-cycles. We present four types of non-simple cycles; discuss the characteristics of non-simple cycles and present basic examples when and where non-simple cycles have an advantage compared to the protection with elementary cycles only. We develop a combined mathematical formulation for the routing and p-cycle optimization process and compare the results of a case study to protect a pan-European network with elementary cycles and non-simple cycles.

Rock Brittleness Prediction Using Geomechanical Properties of Hamekasi Limestone: Regression and Artificial Neural Networks Analysis

The cold climate is a favorable parameter for the development of tension cracks and decrease of rock brittleness. Therefore, this paper attempts to investigate the Hamekasi porous limestone in order to predict the brittleness indices during freeze-thaw cycles. The freeze–thaw test was executed for one cycle including 16 h of freezing, and 8 h of thawing. The geo mechanical properties and brittl...

Capacity-efficient Planning of Resilient Networks with p-Cycles

The p-Cycle concept is an efficient way to protect the network traffic against failures of network elements. We present the methods and issues related to network planning, management and operations of p-Cycles and highlight the advantages using this concept. Furthermore we report efficiency results of a case-study of the deployment of p-Cycles in Wavelength Divison Multiplex (WDM) networks.

Modeling of Resilient Modulus of Asphalt Concrete Containing Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement using Feed-Forward and Generalized Regression Neural Networks

Reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) is one of the waste materials that highway agencies promote to use in new construction or rehabilitation of highways pavement. Since the use of RAP can affect the resilient modulus and other structural properties of flexible pavement layers, this paper aims to employ two different artificial neural network (ANN) models for modeling and evaluating the effects of ...

Resilient Supplier Selection in a Supply Chain by a New Interval-Valued Fuzzy Group Decision Model Based on Possibilistic Statistical Concepts

Supplier selection is one the main concern in the context of supply chain networks by considering their global and competitive features. Resilient supplier selection as generally new idea has not been addressed properly in the literature under uncertain conditions. Therefore, in this paper, a new multi-criteria group decision-making (MCGDM) model is introduced with interval-valued fuzzy sets (I...

A reliability analysis of Double-Ring topologies with Dual Attachment using p-cycles for optical metro networks

The distribution of multicast traffic (e.g. IPTV or business point-to-multipoint) in the metropolitan environment requires highly resilient network infrastructures. Currentlydeployed fibre ducts in the metropolitan area are typically based on ring topologies interconnected by the dual homing approach. In this study, an easy evolution towards meshed topologies is proposed, based on Double Rings ...
