چکیده

This paper reports on our ongoing work that aims at a classification of conjunctive queries q according to the data complexity of answering ontologymediated queries ({A v T t F}, q). We give examples of queries from the complexity classes C ∈ {AC, L, NL, P, CONP}, and obtain a few syntactical conditions for C-membership and C-hardness.

Developing a BIM-based Spatial Ontology for Semantic Querying of 3D Property Information

With the growing dominance of complex and multi-level urban structures, current cadastral systems, which are often developed based on 2D representations, are not capable of providing unambiguous spatial information about urban properties. Therefore, the concept of 3D cadastre is proposed to support 3D digital representation of land and properties and facilitate the communication of legal owners...

Ontology-Mediated Queries with Closed Predicates

In the context of ontology-based data access with description logics (DLs), we study ontology-mediated queries in which selected predicates can be closed (OMQCs). In particular, we contribute to the classification of the data complexity of such queries in several relevant DLs. For the case where only concept names can be closed, we tightly link this question to the complexity of surjective CSPs...

Ontology-Mediated Queries for NOSQL Databases

Ontology-Based Data Access has been studied so far for relational structures and deployed on top of relational databases. This paradigm enables a uniform access to heterogeneous data sources, also coping with incomplete information. Whether OBDA is suitable also for non-relational structures, like those shared by increasingly popular NOSQL languages, is still an open question. In this paper, we...

Theoretically Optimal Datalog Rewritings for OWL 2 QL Ontology-Mediated Queries

We show that, for OWL 2 QL ontology-mediated queries with (i) ontologies of bounded depth and conjunctive queries of bounded treewidth, (ii) ontologies of bounded depth and bounded-leaf tree-shaped conjunctive queries, and (iii) arbitrary ontologies and bounded-leaf tree-shaped conjunctive queries, one can construct and evaluate nonrecursive datalog rewritings by, respectively, LOGCFL, NL and L...

On the Parametrised Complexity of Tree-Shaped Ontology-Mediated Queries in OWL 2 QL

We discuss the parameterised complexity of answering tree-shaped ontology-mediated queries (OMQs) in OWL 2 QL under various restrictions on their ontologies and conjunctive queries (CQs). In particular, we construct an ontology T such that answering OMQs (T , q) with tree-shaped CQs q is W[1]hard if the number of leaves in q is regarded as the parameter. The number of leaves has previously been...
