Generalized lymphadenopathy as the first manifestation of prostatic cancer

چکیده
A 72-year-old male was admitted with painful swelling of his left arm. Physical examination revealed supraclavicular lymphadenopathy with swollen left arm and a stony-hard prostate on rectal examination. Routine blood tests were normal. Doppler test showed deep vein thrombosis in the left arm. Tomography of chest, abdomen and pelvis showed generalized lymphadenopathy, suggesting lymphoma. Biopsy of a left supraclavicular node revealed adenocarcinoma of unknown origin. Colonoscopy and gastroscopy revealed no mass lesions. Total serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) was 1000ng/ml. Neoplastic cells were positively stained for PSA. Bone scintigraphy revealed abnormal uptake in T5 vertebra and sacrum. The patient was treated with subcutaneous enoxaparin and referred to oncologic care.

Pneumothorax as a Presenting Clinical Manifestation of Metastatic Prostate Cancer
Pulmonary metastases are not encountered commonly in patients with prostate cancer. Pulmonary metastases with pneumothorax as a presenting clinical manifestation in newly diagnosed prostate cancer are very rare. Here, we present the case of an 82-year-old patient who was admitted to our center with a chief complaint of worsening dyspnea over the past few days. The chest X-ray and computed tomog...
متن کاملGeneralized Lymphadenopathy: Unusual Presentation of Prostate Adenocarcinoma
Generalized lymphadenopathy is a rare manifestation of metastatic prostate cancer. Here, we report the case of a 59-year-old male patient with supraclavicular, mediastinal, hilar, and retroperitoneal and inguinal lymphadenopathy, which suggested the diagnosis of lymphoma. There were no urinary symptoms. A biopsy of the inguinal lymph node was compatible with adenocarcinoma, whose prostatic orig...
متن کاملGeneralized lymph node activation after Influenza vaccination on 18F FDG-PET/CT imaging, an important pitfall in PET interpretation
We report on a 59-year-old female patient with an infected vascular graft investigated with 18F FDG-PET/CT. The first of two studies showed FDG activity in the left deltoid and ipsilateral axillary lymph nodes explained by influenza vaccination the day prior. The second 18F FDG-PET/CT showed multiple FDG-avid lymph nodes on both sides of the diaphragm without tracer accumulation at the vaccinat...
متن کاملProstatic Adenocarcinoma Masquerading as Generalized lymphadenopathy and Mimicking lymphoma on FDG PET/CT: Diagnosis, Staging, and Evaluation of Therapy Response by FDG PET/CT
We report a case of prostatic adenocarcinoma, initially presenting with generalized lymphadenopathy, and mimicking lymphoma on flurodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (FDG PET/CT). Our case suggests that in elderly men presenting with generalized lymphadenopathy, the diagnosis of metastatic prostatic carcinoma should not be overlooked even in the absence of typical ur...
متن کاملMetastatic prostate adenocarcinoma presenting with pulmonary symptoms: a case report and review of the literature
INTRODUCTION Prostate cancer has a high tendency to spread to bone. Pulmonary metastasis and generalized lymphadenopathy commonly develop after pelvic and bone involvement have already occurred. Few patients with prostate cancer present initially with symptomatic metastatic lung lesions and lymphadenopathy without any other concomitant distant dissemination. CASE PRESENTATION We report a case...
