Lagrangian Solutions to the 2d Euler System with L1 Vorticity and Infinite Energy

چکیده
We consider solutions to the two-dimensional incompressible Euler system with only integrable vorticity, thus with possibly locally infinite energy. With such regularity, we use the recently developed theory of Lagrangian flows associated to vector fields with gradient given by a singular integral in order to define Lagrangian solutions, for which the vorticity is transported by the flow. We prove strong stability of these solutions via strong convergence of the flow, under the only assumption of L weak convergence of the initial vorticity. The existence of Lagrangian solutions to the Euler system follows for arbitrary L vorticity. Relations with previously known notions of solutions are established.

Eulerian and Lagrangian Solutions to the Continuity and Euler Equations with L1 Vorticity
In the first part of this paper we establish a uniqueness result for continuity equations with velocity field whose derivative can be represented by a singular integral operator of an L function, extending the Lagrangian theory in [6]. The proof is based on a combination of a stability estimate via optimal transport techniques developed in [28] and some tools from harmonic analysis introduced i...
متن کاملInfinite-energy 2d Statistical Solutions to the Equations of Incompressible Fluids
Abstract. We develop the concept of an infinite-energy statistical solution to the Navier-Stokes and Euler equations in the whole plane. We use a velocity formulation with enough generality to encompass initial velocities having bounded vorticity, which includes the important special case of vortex patch initial data. Our approach is to use well-studied properties of statistical solutions in a ...
متن کاملDissipation in Turbulent Solutions of 2-D Euler
We establish local balance equations for smooth functions of the vorticity in the DiPernaMajda weak solutions of 2D incompressible Euler, analogous to the balance proved by Duchon and Robert for kinetic energy in 3D. The anomalous term or defect distribution therein corresponds to the “enstrophy cascade” of 2D turbulence. It is used to define an appropriate notion of “dissipative Euler solution...
متن کاملA Recurrence Theorem on the Solutions to the 2d Euler Equation
In finite dimensions, the Poincaré recurrence theorem can be proved from the basic properties of a finite measure. In infinite dimensions, it is difficult to establish a natural finite measure, especially by extending a finite dimensional finite measure. A natural alternative is the Banach norm which can be viewed as a counterpart of the probability density. An interesting problem is to study t...
متن کاملGrowth of anti-parallel vorticity in Euler flows
In incompressible Euler flows, vorticity is intensified by line stretching, a process that can come either from the action of shear, or from advection with curvature. Focusing on the latter process, we derive some estimates on the maximal growth of vorticity in axisymmetric flow without swirl, given that vorticity support volume or kinetic energy is fixed. This leads to consideration of locally...
