چکیده

Studies by Christensen et wl. (1, 2) and by -4llison and associates (3) have demonstrated that the urinary excretion of peptides is greater than the urinary excretion of free amino acids following the infusion of partial hydrolysates of casein or of fibrin. Christensen and coworkers have shown also that infusion of these hydrolysates results in a greater persistence of peptides in the plasma than of free amino acids. Their results were interpreted to mean that in a given hydrolysate peptides are not as well or as quickly utilized as free amino acids, although some peptides may be more readily utilized than others (2). The following studies were planned to determine the effects of varying the degree of hydrolysis of casein by pancreatic enzymes from 18 to 40 to 60 per cent, on the excretion of peptides in the urine, and on the retention of nitrogen in the animal. These enzymatic hydrolysates were found to have approximately the same contents of the ten essential amino acids and they, therefore, differed from one another only in the proportion of free amino acids and polypeptides. Enzymatic hydrolysis was used so that the destructive forces of other forms of hydrolysis on certain amino acids would be minimized.

Comparing the Effect of Non-nutritive Sucking and Abdominal Massage on Feeding Tolerance in Preterm Newborns

Background:Enteral feeding intolerance is a major problem in the preterm neonates. Non-nutritive sucking and abdominal massage are among the most important nutritional interventions in this regard. Aim: This study aimed to compare the effect of non-nutritive sucking and abdominal massage on feeding tolerance in the preterm newborns. Method: This clinical trial was conducted on 52 preterm neonat...

Characterization of Yeast Protein Enzymatic Hydrolysis and Autolysis in Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Kluyveromyces marxianus

Protein recovery under sonication treatment and autolysis, also protein hydrolysis progress during enzymatic hydrolysis (using trypsin and chymotrypsin) and autolysis (using endogenous enzymes) were investigated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Kluyveromyces marxianus. Crude protein content of dried yeast cells were 53.22% and 45.6% for S.cerevisiae and K.marxianus, respectively. After 96 hrs of...

The Effect of Non-nutritive Sucking on Mother's Finger on Feeding Tolerance and Attainment of Independent Oral Feeding in Preterm Infants: A Randomized Trial

Background Non-nutritive sucking is part of the initial development process in preterm infants that may speed up the transition from the tube to oral feeding. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of non-nutritive sucking on mother's finger on feeding tolerance and attainment of independent oral feeding in preterm infants. Materials and Methods This single blind clinical trial was co...

Partial acid hydro lysates of proteins; assay of liquid protein hydro lysates in protein-depleted rats.

Experiments to determine the comparative nutritive value of partial acid hydrolysates of various proteins have been carried out for several years in this laboratory. Most of this work has involved studies of nitrogen balance in dogs wherein the hydrolysates were administered intravenously. Short term experiments, i.e. 4 to 5 days, were used to determine minimum nitrogen levels at wb.ich the N b...
