چکیده
Primary intraocular lymphoma (PIOL) is a subset of primary central nervous system (CNS) lymphoma which initially presents in the eye with or without simultaneous CNS involvement (1). It is considered a variant of extranodal, non-Hodgkin lymphoma that is usually of an aggressive diffuse large B cell type (1–3). Diagnosis of PIOL requires histopathologic evidence of malignant lymphoma cells in brain biopsy, vitreous or CSF specimen (1, 2). Cytological examination is the mainstay method to detect lymphomatous cells (3, 4). Other ancillary tests like flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry staining, cytokine analysis, and gene rearrangement studies also aid in the diagnosis and further classification of PIOL (1, 4). Optic nerve and optic disc involvement may occur in the PIOL (4, 5). Here, we report a case with an unusual presentation of this malignancy presented as an intraocular mass with involvement of the optic nerve head. Case report

Malignant medulloepithelioma of the optic nerve in a horse.
An 18-month-old Standardbred filly had a large intraocular tumor involving the optic nerve. The tumor was a malignant medulloepithelioma, a rare intraocular neoplasm derived from the primitive medullary epithelium. By light microscopy the tumor had cords and lobules of primitive neuroepithelial cells that formed clefts and true rosettes. Electron microscopy of the rosettes showed a girdle of zo...
متن کاملWhat is the Real Cause of Glaucoma?
Introduction: The term glaucoma refers to a group of diseases that have a characteristic optic neuropathy with associated visual field loss in common. Intraocular pressure has been considered to be the only causal factor for glaucoma and the only factor that can be manipulated to alter the course of the disease. But considering high intraocular pressure as the only factor responsible for glauco...
متن کاملOcular Lymphoma: Clinical, Diagnostic, and Therapeutic Aspects
Ocular involvement in lymphoma is a relatively rare condition that can result from a primary intraocular lymphoma or an intraocular manifestation of systemic lymphoma. Lymphoma manifestations frequently masquerade as other more benign intraocular conditions including allergic or infectious conjunctivitis, uveitis, multiple evanescent white dot syndrome, acute retinal necrosis, or herpetic retin...

Background: Pigment epithelium-derived factor (PEDF) is regarded as a multifunctional protein possessing neurotrophic and neuroprotective properties. PEDF has a very short half-life, and it would require multiple injections to maintain a therapeutically relevant level without a delivery system. However, multiple injections are prone to cause local damage or infection. To overcome this, we chose...
متن کاملChoroidal infarction in a glaucoma patient with Flammer syndrome: a case report with a long term follow-up
BACKGROUND We present a long term follow-up of a young female patient with choroidal infarction, primary open angle glaucoma and Flammer syndrome. The patient had no classical risk factors for vascular occlusions, except for the presence of Flammer syndrome. The essential feature of this syndrome is primary vascular dysregulation, sometimes including vasospasm. The vessels of affected people re...
