Allergy to local anaesthesia.

چکیده
A 35-year-old female had severe anaphylactoid reactions to pnlocaine and lignocaine on separate occasions Intradermal testing was positive to serial dilutions of both drugs and negative to bupivacaine, which was subsequently used uneventfully While intradermal testing for local anaesthetic allergy has limited application it would appear that when such te*ts are positive in high dilution they may discriminate between safe and unsafe anaesthetic agents.

Allergic reaction to an amide local anaesthetic.
A 67-yr-old female patient gave a history of allergy to lignocaine. When she was challenge-tested with the intradermal injection of 0.5% bupivacaine 0.2ml she had a systemic reaction. This reaction was accompanied by a decrease in the concentration of complement C4 in the plasma, which indicated that the reaction was immunologically-mediated. This is the first report of allergy to a local anaes...

متن کاملIgE-mediated allergy to local anaesthetics: separating fact from perception: a UK perspective.
Local anaesthetic (LA) agents have been routinely used in dentistry, ophthalmology, minor surgery, and obstetrics since the late nineteenth century. Reports relating to adverse reactions and LA allergy have appeared in the published literature for several years. However, the incidence of true, IgE-mediated LA allergy remains uncertain and is presumed to be very low. We critically reviewed the E...
متن کاملCaesarean in mare by Marcenac incision under local anaesthesia
A nulliparous non-descript mare was presented with a complaint of dystocia. The mare was recumbent and physical examination revealed that the animal was in shock. There was no straining and foetal forelimbs were visible outside the vulva. The foetus was dead as there was no pedal reflex. Vaginal examination revealed anterior presentation with dorso-sacral position and rigid lateral head deviati...
متن کاملLocal anaesthesia outside the operating room.
An increasing number of minor surgical procedures are performed under local anaesthesia in clinical settings outside the operating room, where monitoring and resuscitation equipment--as well as personnel skilled in resuscitation--may not be readily available. Serious adverse effects and even fatalities may result from the use of local anaesthetic agents, arising from a variety of causes such as...
