چکیده

Some glottal analysis approaches based upon linear prediction or complex cepstrum approaches have been proved to be effective to estimate glottal source from real speech utterances. We propose a new approach employing both an all-pole oddorder linear prediction to provide a coarse estimation and phase decomposition based causality/anti-causality separation to generate further refinements. The obtained measures show that this method improved performance in terms of reducing sourcefilter separation in estimation of glottal flow pulses (GFP). No glottal model fitting is required by this method, thus it has wide and flexible adaptation to retain fidelity of speakers’s vocal features with computationally affordable resource. The method is evaluated on real speech utterances to validate it.

Voiced Speech Synthesis Using Pitch Asynchronous Code Excited Linear Filters for the Glottal Source

This paper proposes a model for natural quality voiced speech synthesis using code excited linear all-pole filter for modeling the glottal source signal. Classical glottal signal models are explicit-time functions which inhibit joint sourcetract parameter estimation and require pitch synchronous estimation with precise segmentation of open and closed glottis phase. These problems are overcome i...

Determination of instants of significant excitation in speech using group delay function

A new method for determining the instants of significant excitation in speech signals is proposed. Here, significant excitation refers primarily to the instant of glottal closure within a pitch period in voiced speech. The method is based on the global phase characteristics of minimum phase signals. The average slope of the unwrapped phase of the short-time Fourier transform of linear predictio...

Phase-Based Methods for Voice Source Analysis

Voice source analysis is an important but difficult issue for speech processing. In this talk, three aspects of voice source analysis recently developed at LIMSI (Orsay, France) and FPMs (Mons, Belgium) are discussed. In a first part, time domain and spectral domain modelling of glottal flow signals are presented. It is shown that the glottal flow can be modelled as an anticausal filter (maximu...

Parameterisation Methods of the Glottal Flow Estimated by Inverse Filtering

Estimation of the source of voiced speech, the glottal volume velocity waveform, with inverse filtering involves usually a parameterisation stage, where the obtained flow waveforms are expressed in numerical forms. This stage of the voice source analysis, the parameterisation of the glottal flow, is discussed in the present paper. The paper aims to give a review on the different methods develop...

A Review of Glottal Waveform Analysis

Glottal inverse filtering is of potential use in a wide range of speech processing applications. As the process of voice production is, to a first order approximation, a source-filter process, then obtaining source and filter components provides for a flexible representation of the speech signal for use in processing applications. In certain applications the desire for accurate inverse filterin...
