چکیده

The detected signal-to-noise power ratio is evaluated for fiber links with periodic amplification. It is shown that the highest ratio is achieved in the limit of a distributed amplifier (g = alpha), but that, alternatively, periodic amplification at intervals of alpha(-1) entails a penalty of less than 2 dB compared with the (ideal) distributed case.

Effect of AWGN on BER Performance of Multiuser Detection in DS-OCDMA System using Novel Multilevel Periodic Codes

In this paper, we study the performance of the multiuser detection in a direct sequence optical code division multiple access (DS-OCDMA) system using novel periodic optical encoder applied to fiber-to-the-X (FTTX) passive optical network (PONs). The performance of our system is analyzed in a synchronous network using multilevel periodic codes (ML-PC) with a conventional receiver model and the r...

In-field Raman amplification on coherent optical fiber links for frequency metrology.

Distributed Raman amplification (DRA) is widely exploited for the transmission of broadband, modulated signals used in data links, but not yet in coherent optical links for frequency metrology, where the requirements are rather different. After preliminary tests on fiber spools, in this paper we deeper investigate Raman amplification on deployed in-field optical metrological links. We actually ...

Performance of the Wavelet Transform-Neural Network Based Receiver for DPIM in Diffuse Indoor Optical Wireless Links in Presence of Artificial Light Interference

Artificial neural network (ANN) has application in communication engineering in diverse areas such as channel equalization, channel modeling, error control code because of its capability of nonlinear processing, adaptability, and parallel processing. On the other hand, wavelet transform (WT) with both the time and the frequency resolution provides the exact representation of signal in both doma...

Brillouin signal amplification in pumped erbium-doped optical fiber

Amplification of Brillouin scattering signal extends the measurement range and improves the signal-to-noise ratio of fiber-optic distributed Brillouin sensors. Here, we investigate the amplification effect of a 980-nm pump laser on Brillouin gain spectrum in an erbium-doped optical fiber. The Brillouin-scattered Stokes power increased exponentially with increasing pump power, exhibiting approxi...

Pinning method of pulse confinement in optical fiber with random dispersion

Pulse propagation in optical fiber links with randomness in the dispersion is investigated theoretically and numerically for systems with and without dispersion management. The main effects of locally correlated noise are inevitable pulse destruction and statistical broadening. However, periodic/quasi-periodic management of fiber randomness, achieved by setting the accumulated dispersion to its...
