Hayes Radiology, Puget Sound VAHCS, Seattle, WA, United States, Radiology, University of Washington, Seattle, WA, United States, Philips Medical, Cleveland, OH, United States, Philips Medical, Best, Netherlands Introduction Evaluation of the peripheral arterial vasculature represents one of the most successful applications of contrast enhanced MR angiography (CE-MRA). With the advent of faster imaging systems employing multi-station phased array coils, parallel imaging, faster gradients, view-sharing, and rapid moving table technology, the simplicity and efficiency of single injection techniques has improved to where excellent results are routinely obtained. This work describes a systematic method for combining these advances to custom tailor imaging parameters for each individual patient to optimize a combination of time-resolved and static high-resolution peripheral MRA.

Congenital Heart Disease: Role of Time-Resolved MR Angiography

Background and Objective: Cardiac MRI and contrast-enhanced MR angiography (CE-MRA) are gaining interest as non-invasive diagnostic measures for both primary diagnosis and follow up of patients with congenital heart disease (CHD) (1). Due to the presence of complex anatomy and extensive collateral pathways between pulmonary and systemic circulation in patients with CHD, a highly temporally reso...

Recent advances in 3D time-resolved contrast-enhanced MR angiography.

Contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance angiography (CE-MRA) was first introduced for clinical studies approximately 20 years ago. Early work provided 3-4 mm spatial resolution with acquisition times in the 30-second range. Since that time there has been continuing effort to provide improved spatial resolution with reduced acquisition time, allowing high resolution 3D time-resolved studies. The pu...

High-Resolution Continuously Acquired Peripheral MRA Featuring Self-Calibrated Parallel Imaging

Moving table magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques potentially improve the scan time efficiency of large field-of-view (FOV) MR imaging applications and provide the physician with seamless images of the extended FOV. Particularly peripheral MR angiography (MRA) requires high spatial resolution to resolve small arteries and at the same time has rigid scan time constraints in order to stay ...

Time-Resolved Contrast-Enhanced MRA Using Cartesian Techniques

INTRODUCTION The last decade has seen major advances in the performance capabilities of time-resolved contrast-enhanced (CE) magnetic resonance angiography (MRA). Today, for example, it is possible to generate 3D time-resolved image sets with higher spatial resolution, wider anatomic coverage, better temporal fidelity, and improved image quality while using smaller acquisition times than what w...

Magnetic Resonance Angiography (MRA) of the lower extremities with Parallel Imaging and a dedicated 36 Element Matrix- Coil at 3 Tesla

Introduction: Today there are few methods of imaging the arterial vasculature of the lower extremity. Precondition for this kind of examination is a high spatial resolution as it is known from digital subtraction angiography (DSA) and a high reproducibility. Disadvantages of DSA and computer tomographic angiography (CTA) are the ionizing radiation as well as nephrotoxic contrast agents (CA) [1]...
