چکیده

Introduction Left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) with the Watchman device (Boston Scientific, Natick, MA) is frequently performed as a nonpharmacologic, second-line therapy for stroke prevention in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) and contraindications to long-term anticoagulation. Although combined catheter pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) and Watchman procedures may be performed successfully for patients with symptomatic AF, a simultaneous approach is not always feasible or in some cases PVI may not be clinically indicated at the time of Watchman implantation. Staged radiofrequency PVI and left atrial (LA) catheter ablation following Watchman device placement has been shown to be feasible; however, other modalities for PVI have not been reported in the postimplant population.

Cryoballoon ablation in young patients with lone paroxysmal atrial fibrillation.

INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES Long-term efficacy following cryoballoon ablation of lone paroxysmal atrial fibrillation remains unknown. We describe long-term follow-up results of the single cryoballoon ablation procedure. METHODS Pulmonary vein isolation was performed in 103 patients (72 male; median age 52 years) with symptomatic lone paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. The end-point of this obser...

One-year clinical outcome after pulmonary vein isolation using the second-generation 28-mm cryoballoon.

BACKGROUND The use of second-generation cryoballoon for pulmonary vein isolation in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation has demonstrated encouraging acute and mid-term results. Long-term outcome data are not yet available. METHODS AND RESULTS Fifty patients (18 women; mean age, 61±11 years; mean left atrial diameter, 43±5 mm) with paroxysmal (36 of 50 patients; 72%) or short-standing...

AF Sustained in Only a Small Area of SVC

A 66-year-old female was admitted to our hospital to undergo catheter ablation for symptomatic paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF). After pulmonary vein isolation was achieved by cryoballoon and adenosine triphosphate was injected to confirm the dormant conduction of the pulmonary veins, AF was induced. Sinus rhythm was restored by cardioversion, whereas AF was sustained only in the superior ve...

Left atrial catheter ablation subsequent to Watchman® left atrial appendage device implantation: a single centre experience.

AIMS Left atrial appendage device occlusion is an increasingly accepted therapy for stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation. The feasibility and safety of left atrial catheter ablation procedures in the presence of a left atrial appendage device implant is unclear. We report on 10 cases of successful left atrial catheter ablation therapy for atrial fibrillation in patients with an implanted Wa...

Innappropriate Sinus Tachycardia After Superior Vena Cava Isolation In Addition To Pulmonary Veins Isolatin Of Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation Cryoballoon Ablation.

We report a case of persistent inappropriate sinus tachycardia (IST) after pulmonary vein and superior vena cava (SVC) isolation with cryoballoon ablation for paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF). After the cryoballoon ablation (CBA) procedure, the patient presented with sinus tachycardia of 105 beats/minute. The patient was successfully treated with metoprolol and ivabradine therapy.
