A Comparative Study B/W Black Cotton Soil and Alluvial Soil for Economical Pavement Design by Lime & Fly-Ash Stabilization

چکیده
As we know the road development is one of the major parts of growing infrastructure & Pune, which is expanding at a very fast rate, the construction of roads is of major concern. Fly Ash is one of the abundant forms of Solid Waste produced at thermal power plants. Its disposal is a big problem keeping both these concerns in mind it was tried to come out with a project which will integrate Road development and Fly ash disposal. Thus, in this project we intend to use Fly ash & Lime in roads which will help us in following manner: High volumes of Fly ash will be used which will save the dumping sites to be used for better purposes. The use of fly ash will reduce the consumption of high volumes of fertile soil that can be used for cultivation purposes. Due to binding properties of lime & Fly ash, the pavement designed will be of higher strength. Overall thickness of the pavement can be reduced. Two types of soils were used in this project, namely Alluvial Soil and Black Soil taken from nearby Pune.

Experimental Studies on Treated Sub-base Soil with Fly Ash and Cement for Sustainable Design Recommendations
The pavement constructions on soft and expansive soils are not durable and unable to sustain heavy traffic loading. As a result, pavement failures and settlement problems will occur very often even under light traffic loading due to cyclic and rolling effects. Geotechnical engineers have dwelled deeply into this matter, and adopt various methods to improve the engineering characteristics of sof...

Class F fly ash cannot be used alone in soil stabilization applications as it is not selfcementing. An activator such as Portland cement or lime must be added to produce cementitious products often called pozzolan stabilized mixtures. The developed mixture must possess adequate strength and durability, should be easily compacted, and most importantly should be economical and environmentally fri...

متن کاملThe use of stabilized fly ash as a green material in pavement substructure: A review
Fly ash is a waste produced in coal-fired thermal power stations. It has pozzolanic properties and can therefore be stabilized to achieve higher strength and durability required for use as pavement substructure specifically as subbase or base layer material. The stabilization of fly ash can be achieved by adding either cement, lime or other materials. Stabilization of fly ash with available ind...

Soil stabilization has become a major issue in construction engineering and the researches regarding the effectiveness of using industrial wastes are rapidly increasing. The present experimental work briefly describes the suitability of the locally available Rice Husk Ash (RHA) to be used in the local construction industry in a way to minimize the amount of waste to be disposed to the environme...
