چکیده

We demonstrated an approach to generate microscale branch-like salt crystallization patterns induced by a regular nanopillar array fabricated by using the laser interference lithography system. Branches of the inorganic salt crystals had similar shapes repeating at different sizes, ranging from ~ 1 m to 20 m in width, covering the 2×2 cm 2 area patterned with nanopillars. The angles between the branches could be modulated by coating nanopillars with 20mer poly-dT nucleotides of different concentrations. This nanopillar-guided crystallization approach, we believe, provides great potential to create biomimic systems for the study of ordered structure formation between organic and inorganic interfaces.

ZnO Nanostructure Templates as a Cost-Efficient Mass-Producible Route for the Development of Cellular Networks

The development of artificial surfaces which can regulate or trigger specific functions of living cells, and which are capable of inducing in vivo-like cell behaviors under in vitro conditions has been a long-sought goal over the past twenty years. In this work, an alternative, facile and cost-efficient method for mass-producible cellular templates is presented. The proposed methodology consist...

Guided mode caused by silicon nanopillar array for light emission enhancement in color-converting LED.

Plasmonic metallic nanostructures have been demonstrated an effective way to enhance the light emission efficiency in LEDs. Here, we propose a design of white LEDs that combining dielectric silicon nanopillar array in the color-converting layer. By investigating theoretically the guided mode caused by the nanopillar array-waveguide system, we demonstrate that the silicon nanopillar arrays enabl...

Directional emission from dye-functionalized plasmonic DNA superlattice microcavities.

Three-dimensional plasmonic superlattice microcavities, made from programmable atom equivalents comprising gold nanoparticles functionalized with DNA, are used as a testbed to study directional light emission. DNA-guided nanoparticle colloidal crystallization allows for the formation of micrometer-scale single-crystal body-centered cubic gold nanoparticle superlattices, with dye molecules coupl...

Control of the two-dimensional crystallization of DNA origami with various loop arrangements.

We have developed a new strategy to control the two-dimensional (2D) crystallization of DNA origami by introducing loops on the surface and aligning them in various orientations. Among the orientations tested, vertically connected loops successfully produced the 2D crystal lattice on a micrometer scale, while all other orientations failed.

Coupled nanopillar waveguides: optical properties and applications

In this paper we review basic properties of coupled periodic and aperiodic nanopillar waveguides. A coupled nanopillar waveguide consists of several rows of periodically or aperiodically placed dielectric rods (pillars). In such a waveguide, light confinement is due to the total internal reflection, while guided modes dispersion is strongly affected by the waveguide structure. We present a syst...
