چکیده
We consider the M → 0 limit for tagged particle diffusion in a 1-dimensional Rayleigh-gas, studied originaly by Sinai and Soloveichik [14], respectively by Szász and Tóth [19]. In this limit we derive a new type of model for tagged paricle diffusion, with Calogero-Moser-Sutherland (i.e. inverse quadratic) interaction potential between the two central particles. Computer simulations on this new model reproduce exactly the numerical value of the limiting variance obtained by Boldrighini, Frigio and Tognetti in [4].

Problem of Rayleigh Wave Propagation in Thermoelastic Diffusion
In this work, the problem of Rayleigh wave propagation is considered in the context of the theory of thermoelastic diffusion. The formulation is applied to a homogeneous isotropic thermoelastic half space with mass diffusion at the stress free, isothermal, isoconcentrated boundary. Using the potential functions and harmonic wave solution, three coupled dilatational waves and a shear wave is obt...
متن کاملEntropy Generation of Double Diffusive Natural Convection in a Three Dimensional Differentially Heated Enclosure
Entropy generation of double diffusive natural convection in a three dimensional differentially heated enclosure has been performed numerically. Vertical walls of enclosure are heated differentially and remaining walls are adiabatic. The obtained results were presented via iso-concentration, iso-temperatures, velocity vector projection, particle trajectories, velocity profiles, iso-entropy, loc...
متن کاملSelf-Diffusion in One-Dimensional Lattice Gases in the Presence of an External Field I
We study the motion of a tagged particle in a one-dimensional lattice gas with nearest-neighbor asymmetric jumps, with p (respectively, q), p > q, the probability to jump to the right (left). It was shown in Ref. 6 that the fluctuations in the position of the tagged particle behave normally; ((AX) z) ~ Dt. Here we compute explicitly the diffusion coefficient. We find D = (1 p ) ( p --q), where ...
متن کاملA limit theorem to a time-fractional diffusion
Abstract. We prove a limit theorem for an integral functional of a Markov process. The Markovian dynamics is characterized by a linear Boltzmann equation modeling a one-dimensional test particle of mass λ ≫ 1 in an external periodic potential and undergoing collisions with a background gas of particles with mass one. The object of our limit theorem is the time integral of the force exerted on t...
متن کاملA Reduced-order Model of Heat Transfer Effects on the Dynamics of Bubbles
The Rayleigh-Plesset equation has been used extensively to model spherical bubble dynamics, yet it has been shown that it cannot correctly capture damping effects due to mass and thermal diffusion. Radial diffusion equations may be solved for a single bubble, but these are too computationally expensive to implement into a continuum model for bubbly cavitating flows since the diffusion equations...
