چکیده
1 Department of Medical Oncology, We report a case of inoperable metastatic parathyroid carcinoma involving lifethreatening hypercalcaemia that failed to respond to standard therapy. Our review of available therapeutic modalities showed a paucity of evidence to guide management of patients with these rare tumours. This is the first report of the treatment of malignant hypercalcaemia secondary to parathyroid carcinoma using denosumab.

The use of cinacalcet in pregnancy to treat a complex case of parathyroid carcinoma
UNLABELLED We present the case of a patient with metastatic parathyroid carcinoma whose hypercalcaemia was medically managed through two pregnancies. The diagnosis was made when the patient presented with chronic knee pain and radiological findings consistent with a brown tumour, at the age of 30. Her corrected calcium and parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels were significantly elevated. Following ...
متن کاملProlonged remission of hypercalcaemia due to parathyroid carcinoma with pamidronate.
Parathyroid carcinoma is rare and the associated hypercalcaemia is often resistant to all treatment. A case is described in which prolonged control of hypercalcaemia has been achieved by infrequent infusions of pamidronate despite continuing hypersecretion of parathyroid hormone.
متن کاملUtility of 99mTc-Sestamibi SPECT/CT in the Early Localization of Metastatic Parathyroid Carcinoma
Parathyroid carcinoma is very rare, with only a few documented cases. Hence, metastatic lesions are infrequently documented on scintigraphic imaging. We present a case of a 63-year-old female presenting with elevated serum levels of ionized calcium and parathyroid hormone (PTH) who was referred to our department for a parathyroid scan with SPECT/ CT. Parathyroid scintigraphy showed a focus of i...
متن کاملMechanism of malignant hypercalcaemia in carcinoma of the breast.
To investigate the mechanisms of hypercalcaemia in carcinoma of the breast, 22 patients with hypercalcaemia due to metastatic carcinoma were studied and the findings compared with those obtained in normal subjects and patients with benign and malignant breast disease without hypercalcaemia. As expected, patients with metastases of bone showed biochemical evidence of increased bone resorption. W...
