The extracts were found to possess normalizing activity against cold immobilization stress induced changes in norepinephrine (NE), dopamine (DA), 5-hydroxy tryptamine (5-HT), 5-hydroxy indole acetic acid (5HIAA), and enzyme monoamine oxidase (MAO), The results obtained provide biochemical evidence for antistress activity of the tested extracts.

Monoamine oxidase (MAO) is an enzyme that metabolizes a wide range of monoamines and is important in the control of the concentration of these neurotransmitters. Several reports have shown that stress can decrease MAO inhibitory activity. An endogenous MAO inhibitory component was first discovered in normal human urine by Glover et al. (22), and the compound responsible for the MAO activity was...

The Effects of Immobilization Stress on the Synthesis and the Catabolism of Dopamine and Norepinephrine in the Rat Hypothalamus!

= Abstract = Immobilization stress was adopted as a prototype stress model for studying the effects of stress on dopaminergic and noradrenergic neuronal activity in the rat hypothalamus. Norepinephrine content was significantly increased after 4 hours of immobilization stress. Also, the turnover rates of both dopamine and norepinephrine were found to be significantly increased after the stress,...

Investigating the Anti-Inflammatory and Analgesic Activity of Leaves of Wedelia chinensis (Osbeck) Merr. In Standard Experimental Animal models

The ethanolic extract of Wedelia chinensis (EEWC) belonging to the family of Asteraceae was evaluated by hot plate and acetic acid induced writhing methods to assess its analgesic activity. The extract was also evaluated for its by using on carrageenan, mediators such as histamine and serotonin induced paw oedema, and cotton pellet induced granuloma tests for its effect on acute and chronic ...

Immobilization of Glucose oxidase on Meso-porous Glass-ceramic with the Skeleton of CaTi4(PO¬4)6

Microporous glass ceramic with skeleton of CaTi4(PO¬4)6 with average pore size of 12.7 nm has been synthesized and used as a carrier of glucose oxidase. The glass ceramic was prepared by controlled heat treatment of glass samples, which causes the phase separation in their structure and creates CaTi4(PO¬4)6 and β-Ca3(PO4)2 phases. The β-Ca3(PO4)2 phase was dissolved by soaking the glass ceramic...
