Bulk viscosity of QCD matter near the critical temperature

چکیده
Kubo's formula relates bulk viscosity to the retarded Green's function of the trace of the energy-momentum tensor. Using low energy theorems of QCD for the latter we derive the formula which relates the bulk viscosity to the energy density and pressure of hot matter. We then employ the available lattice QCD data to extract the bulk viscosity as a function of temperature. We find that close to the deconfinement temperature bulk viscosity becomes large, with viscosity-to-entropy ratio ζ/s ∼ 1.

Bulk viscosity and the conformal anomaly in the pion gas.
We calculate the bulk viscosity of the massive pion gas within unitarized chiral perturbation theory. We obtain a low-temperature peak arising from explicit conformal breaking due to the pion mass and another peak near the critical temperature, dominated by the conformal anomaly through gluon condensate terms. The correlation between bulk viscosity and conformal breaking supports a recent QCD p...
متن کاملRunning coupling constant from lattice data and bulk viscosity of strange quark matter
We study the bulk viscosity of strange quark matter (SQM) in a quasiparticle model at finite chemical potential by extrapolating the previous quasiparticle model of finite temperature lattice QCD. The more proper bulk viscosity coefficient can be given in this model where chemical potential μ and coupling constant g are interdependent. We also apply our result to determine the critical rotation...

We consider QCD near but above critical temperature Tc. The pressure, susceptibilities and the renormalized Polyakov loop — which is an order parameter for the deconfining phase transition — dramatically change up to temperatures a few times Tc. We refer to this region as a ”semi”QGP, where partial confinement plays important role. We show that the shear viscosity η is suppressed by two powers ...

The QCD phase diagram contains several strongly interacting quantum gases or liquids. Experiments at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) indicate that at temperatures close to the critical temperature Tc the quark gluon plasma is strongly interacting. The strongly interacting plasma (sQGP) is characterized by a very small viscosity to entropy ratio and by its large opacity for high energ...
متن کاملThermodynamics and bulk viscosity of approximate black hole duals to finite temperature quantum chromodynamics.
We consider classes of translationally invariant black hole solutions whose equations of state closely resemble that of QCD at zero chemical potential. We use these backgrounds to compute the ratio zeta/s of bulk viscosity to entropy density. For a class of black holes that exhibits a first-order transition, we observe a sharp rise in zeta/s near Tc. For constructions that exhibit a smooth cros...
