Final Results of the TerraSAR-X In-Orbit Antenna Model Verification

چکیده
TerraSAR-X is a highly flexible X-band radar satellite. Its primary objective is the acquisition of high quality SAR images in a multitude of possible acquisition modes. The great amount of antenna patterns needed for image acquisition and correction requires an antenna model accurately describing all beams. To guarantee the required image quality, the model was verified in-orbit during the commissioning phase following the launch in June 2007. The methodology of the antenna model verification as well as the final results obtained are presented in detail in this paper.

In June, 2010 the German SAR satellite TanDEM-X (TerraSAR-X-Add-on for Digital Elevation Measurements) will be launched. Together with TerraSAR-X, launched June 15, 2007, it will form the first spaceborne bistatic SAR platform. Usually one of the satellite is transmitting (active satellite), while both are receiving. As both satellites fly in a helix orbit constellation, during a recording a sa...

Separated Turnstile (ST) Antenna has many applications in small Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites. Ability of dual-band operation and circular polarization are the main features of this antenna. The purpose of this paper is design and analysis of a Separated Turnstile antenna, which can work in UHF and VHF band simultaneously. The antenna has saddle-shaped radiation pattern in UHF band for data ...
متن کاملTerraSAR System Calibration
The ESA Earth Observation TerraSAR-L system features a L-band Synthetic Aperture Radar and strives for very high radiometric performance for spatial resolutions of 5 meters and swaths up to 200 km, in strip-map and ScanSAR operations, full-polarimetric capabilities, repeat-pass ScanSAR interferometry and a Wave Mode. Such levels of radiometric performance require the use of instrument calibrati...
متن کاملT/R Module Performance Monitoring of the TerraSAR-X Active Phased Array Antenna
The German remote sensing satellite TerraSAR-X, launched in 2007, hosts a flexible XBand synthetic aperture radar (SAR) operating in Stripmap, Spotlight, ScanSAR, and additional experimental modes. For these various antenna beams, its active phased array antenna electronically steers and shapes the patterns in azimuth and elevation direction. The array consists of 384 radiating sub-arrays for h...
