G-CSF-producing giant squamous cell carcinoma (SCC): changes in serum G-CSF in parallel with SCC antigen.

چکیده
Sir, Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) can occur anywhere on the skin and in mucous membranes with a squamous epithelium (1). Malignant tumours producing granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) have been reported in lung cancer, thyroid carcinoma, bladder carcinoma and cutaneous angiosarcoma (2). We encountered a case of G-CSF-producing SCC, which was diagnosed by immunohistochemical staining and showed changes in serum G-CSF in parallel with the serum SCC antigen level and the disease course.

Granulocyte-colony-stimulating factor producing esophageal squamous cell carcinoma: a report of 3 cases
Although different types of granulocyte-colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF)-producing carcinomas have been reported, G-CSF-producing esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is extremely rare. The prognosis of G-CSF-producing esophageal cancer has generally been reported to be very poor. Here, we report three cases of G-CSF-producing SCC who were successfully treated by use of multimodal therapy.
متن کاملGranulocyte colony-stimulating factor-producing squamous cell carcinoma of the lower gingiva: a case report
The present study summarizes our experience in treating a patient with a suspected granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF)-producing squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the lower gingiva, which is a rather rare entity. A 56-year-old woman underwent surgical excision of palate leukoplakia in 1996. In 2009, however, a leukoplakic superficial tumor was detected in the lower left gingiva, for wh...
متن کاملThe Usefulness of CD10 in Distinguishing between Cutaneous Basal Cell Carcinoma and Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Background & Objectives: CD10 is a cell surface enzyme with metalloendopeptidase activity, also known as Common Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia Antigen, which mainly serves as a marker for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). To date and to the best of our knowledge, only few comparative immunohistochemical studies have assessed CD10 expression in cutaneous epithelial neoplasms. Our goal was to d...
متن کاملEvaluation of Diagnostic Values of EMA and Ber-Ep4 in Distinction between Basal Cell Carcinoma and Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Skin
Background and Objective: Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) are two common tumors of the skin. In some cases, distinction between BCC and SCC can be difficult. This study aimed to clarify this uncertainty through immunohistochemical analysis. In this respect, epithelial membran...
متن کاملبررسی میزان روی سرم در خون بیماران سرطانی با سرطان پوست از نوع Squamous cell carcinoma and Basal cell carcinoma
Zinc has an important role in skin health and its deficiency reduces immunity. To evaluate levels of Zinc in squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and basal cell carcinoma (BCC) of skin, we studied 44 BCC and 38 SCC cases together with 33 controls. Blood samples were taken and after separation of serum, levels of Zinc, albumin and total protein were measured by atomic absorption, albumin kit and reflec...
