Significance of myocardial fibrosis on cardiac function and morphology in severe aortic stenosis

چکیده
Methods Eighty-nine patients (53 male, mean age 60 years) with pure severe AS (n = 36) or severe AS with mild aortic regurgitation (n = 53) were included in the study. All patients underwent transthoracic echocardiography (TTE), cardiac computed tomography (CCT) and cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) and subsequent valvuloplasty operation. Patients were analyzed according to the presence and absence of myocardial fibrosis (midwall late enhancement) on CMR. The differences of cardiac function and morphology between two groups are statistically analyzed.

Impact of myocardial fibrosis in patients with symptomatic severe aortic stenosis.
BACKGROUND In this prospective follow-up study, the effect of myocardial fibrosis on myocardial performance in symptomatic severe aortic stenosis was investigated, and the impact of fibrosis on clinical outcome after aortic valve replacement (AVR) was estimated. METHODS AND RESULTS Fifty-eight consecutive patients with isolated symptomatic severe aortic stenosis underwent extensive baseline c...
متن کاملFollow-up study of morphology and cardiac function in rats undergoing induction of supravalvular aortic stenosis.
OBJECTIVE To characterize the follow-up of an experimental model of left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) induced by supravalvular ascending aortic stenosis in young rats. METHODS Wistar rats were submitted to thoracotomy and aortic stenosis was created by placing a clip on the ascending aorta (AoS group, n=12). Age-matched control animals underwent a sham operation (C group, n=12). Cardiac func...
متن کاملNon-invasive estimation of cardiac wall stress by using tissue doppler-echocardiography ultrasound images: People with coronary artery stenosis
In this study, a method for non-invasive estimation of stress on the heart wall in the diastole phase is presented using ultrasound echocardiography and tissue Doppler imaging. The aim of this study was to evaluate the stress on the heart wall as a pre-diagnosis to identify people with coronary artery stenosis. 29 patients with stenosis of more than 70%, 30 patients with stenosis of 50 to 7...
متن کاملMultiple myocardial bridge in a 59 year-old woman
Introduction: Myocardial bridging is a congenital condition in which a segment of a major epicardial coronary artery has an intra myocardial route. Myocardial bridging is usually confined to a single vessel and is typically the mid segment of the left anterior descending artery. Bridging may be associated with chest pain, myocardial infarction, and sudden cardiac death, or usually asymptomati...
متن کاملEffect of high- intensity interval training on tissue changes of collagen type 1 and fibrosis percent in male rats with myocardial infarction
Introduction: Myocardial infarction (MI) is defined pathologically as cardiac muscle cell death due to abnormal blood flow, prolonged coronary artery ischemia, and replacement of cardiac tissue necrosis as a dense fibrotic lesion. Expression of collagen-1 protein levels and fibrosis increase after myocardial infarction in cardiac tissue. The aim of present study was to investigate the effect of...
